Last month we shared that our Virtual Q&A calls are now a permanent part of our monthly outreach! Being accessible to answer questions offers insight to our potential students along with the fact that the calls are too much fun to do twice a year. Meeting people from around the world, and all walks of life ready to transform, lights us up! The LIVE sessions allow for us to have conversations about the program, how the classes run, tuition, the CNP designation, careers in the field, how to choose your niche, our Co-op/Practicum program, practicing online, working internationally and, of course, much more. The calls are an "Ask Me Anything" style exchange, where we can get you the answers you want, right away. Every month we feature four of our administrative and admissions team. We may even be joined by one of our many incredible faculty members or graduates. We run two Q&As in one day—join us for one, or both. Sessions are not recorded, so plan to be with us, real-time. See you there!

Juliana Martins' Co-op/Practicum Experience

We have hundreds of rewarding and ongoing work/learn placements with Juliana's being no less so! Juliana chose to complete hers with a company called, BORA ORGANICOSlocated in Brazil, where they sell weekly tropical produce boxes and participate in farmers' markets. If you are in the area, check out their organic coffee, unpasteurized honey, fruits, vegetables, preserves and wine!

Juliana loved that Bora Organicos connected community with farmers. She wanted to work alongside the owner and team to learn about their conscious, sustainable operations. Juliana is a chef and runs her own holistic food preparation company based out of Toronto. This skill set allowed her to integrate quickly into Bora Organico's new meal prep initiative. Juliana shared "I am getting sooooo much fresh produce, and clean animal protein, my fridge is packed! I feel blessed! There was an event for Nutritionist Day at a local university where we had a fresh produce stand. I did a talk on the importance of organics, sustainability and "imperfect" fruits and vegetables, to get people buying them! We prepared organic, local salads, juices, cakes, and organic wine made in the state of Bahia, where I was born."

It's incredible to see a university like UNIME (Metropolitan Union of Education and Culture), have a whole career day dedicated to Nutritionists. We asked Juliana for a few details, "the event was organized by the Faculty of Nutrition with a series of talks that included entrepreneurship in nutrition, how supplements work in muscular hypertrophy, metabolic flexibility from sedentary individuals to athletes, social responsibility of businesses that prepare meals. It was amazing to see all of the career possibilities within the industry here in Brazil!"
Design, Develop & Build Solutions

Pictured above, Sofia Pistrila was captured teaching a Nutritional Symptomatology Pt II lecture to students mid-class. She is incredible at taking her extensive, real-world clinical experiences and sharing them with students in an assertive effort to prepare them for professional practice. She wants success among her future peers, and is known for delivering volumes of analytic information! She is a vocal advocate of an individual's right to personal health choices. Her health journey began 17 years ago, when choosing to abandon her engineering career, and enroll at IHN. When not teaching, consulting, or mentoring, Sofia can be found working the land at a friend's organic farm and tending to their beehives.

The focus of this course is to further build advanced knowledge on the foundations gained in Nutritional Symptomatology I. Symp II provides students with a considered understanding of the underlying causes of disease and methods to prevent them. Practical assessment tools for comprehensive client intakes along with numerous laboratory tests, targeted orthomolecular concepts, therapeutic foods, lifestyle and environmental factors are elucidated in their application to clinical nutrition. This course covers complicated symptomatology that manifests as acute or chronic conditions. Supplements, diet, lifestyle, sleep, environment, movement, detox and more, are developed into deep and lasting healing protocols.

After 43 years, world-renowned Canadian environmentalist, scientist and broadcaster, David Suzuki, announced he will retire from the CBC series “The Nature of Things” next spring. In an October 23, 2022 article (7 minute read) by Jaela Berstien, Suzuki shared, “This is the most important time in my life. I hate to call it retirement. I’m just moving on.” The next chapter of his life focuses on his passion for environmental activism to expose the world to the dangerous truths that are inflicting damage to our planet. We hope he continues his powerful advocacy against pesticides and genetically modified foods!
