Before The Momentous Occasion!

In July 2021, we held our annual Graduation Workshops for our Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, Vancouver, Online Eastern, and Online Pacific campuses. These much-anticipated events are a culmination of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and passion required from each and every student completing IHN’s life-changing diploma program. Workshops were hosted by Elizabeth Papadopoulos (IHN Founder, Director), Colleen Smith (Mississauga Head Administrator), and Jason Madden (Vancouver Campus Manager). Over the course of two weeks, we gathered to bring together a brilliant assemblage of people who chose to the path of healers. The connection between students who attended classes throughout their courses, revealed that campus culture is very much alive and well in the online space!
So many amazing human beings who we have come to know, admire, and be consistently in awe of, shared their time with us and each other. Those who couldn't make it were acknowledged by their classmates, with their presence felt in our hearts. Professional goal setting, meditations, visualizations and writing letters to one's self in the future were part of the workshop's events. Spirited, impromptu "introduce yourself and your practice" highlights were recorded for a feature production screened at their convocations. Class valedictorians were nominated shortly before the session came to a close, reminding the soon-to-be Certified Nutritional Practitioners of the critical role that each will play in the profession.
Congratulations To Our October 2021 Graduates!

The virtual ceremony held on Saturday October 30th, began with a video highlighting IHN's curriculum so that graduates' families and friends could appreciate the enormity of the effort made, to complete the program. There is nothing like an IHN convocation! We take great pride in the production values, dynamic pacing and emotion that comes with the acknowledgement of each graduate and their time at IHN. Opening remarks from Elizabeth Papadopoulos set the stage for the next video featuring the three (of many remarkable) pathfinders in natural nutrition–Linus Pauling, Max Gerson, and Bernard Jensen.

Special moments throughout the student’s time at IHN were shared, such as their unique “nutrition slogans”, being together on farm trips, herb walks, in cooking classes as well as snapshots into daily life on campus and online. We heard inspiring messages from our valedictorians who did a phenomenal job at representing an extraordinary group. Valedictorians were nominated by their fellow classmates for their outstanding involvement and support of their peers. The administration staff – Jason Madden, Jenn-Marie Quinn, and Jen Casey – shared words of encouragement, congratulating graduates on their perseverance for completing an intensive program!

A new and ever-more-skilled collective of CNPs are now equipped to enter the workforce, armed with the knowledge, drive and to carry on IHN’s mission of healing the planet one person at a time.

Jason Madden shared, “Let me congratulate all of you on this incredible achievement of becoming Certified Nutritional Practitioners. The IHN program is immersive and intensive and you did it during a global pandemic. You persevered through personal and global challenges and I want to thank you for dedicating your time, energy, and your hearts to learning and healing. You have set waves and ripples across our planet of healing. I encourage you to continue to find your voice, uncover your gifts and open your heart to the world. Find the joy of living in your truest and healthiest form and find the joy in helping others do the same.”

Becoming A Practitioner with A Lesson on Immunity!

Join us Tuesday, November 16 from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM PT/1:30-3:00 PM ET and change the course of your life. If you are a newcomer or an internationally trained health and medical professional who is in a “survive” job, looking for a “thrive” job, this webinar is for you! IHN has partnered with Achēv, a non-profit organization funded through the Government of Canada, to provide low-interest loans. The webinar is in three parts. You’ll first learn about The Institute of Holistic Nutrition’s diploma program, where you earn your Certified Nutritional Practitioner designation to pursue a rewarding career in the field of Holistic Nutrition.

IHN graduate and Vancouver Campus Academic Advisor & Practicum Coordinator, Jen Casey, will then take you through a timely talk on how you can boost your immune system through nutrition. You will discover how to use food as medicine by painting your plate with a rainbow of colourful foods, which herbs, spices, and superfoods to include into your daily diet, and a recipe for a daily wellness elixir.

Finally, Shobana Thangavadivel, Achēv’s Career and Training Counsellor will share details on how Canadian citizens, living in the GTA, can qualify for Achēv loans that cover the full cost of tuition, books, laptop, and any association fees. All are welcome to attend this free webinar, whether you are looking for a loan or not. We’ll be happy to answer any questions! See you there!
Did you know that you can effectively line dry your laundry, even in the winter? In an October 21, 2021 article (3 minute read) written by Thomas Nelson, we learn that your clothes will line dry in the winter months through a process known as sublimation. Nelson states this is the “[process] by which frozen water skips the liquid phase of evaporation and goes straight to becoming a gas.” Line drying laundry is an opportunity to contribute to a healthier planet all while decreasing your utility bills, having linen-fresh scents, and reducing your carbon footprint!

Yams originate from Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. They are different from sweet potatoes, being less sweet and more starchy. They have a distinct brown, bark-like exterior, but the flesh can be white, yellow, purple, or pink. Yams are packed with fibre, vitamins, and minerals such as potassium, manganese and copper. Some health benefits of yams include boosting brain health, reducing inflammation, and improving blood sugar control. They are versatile, easy to prepare, and delicious to include in both sweet and savoury dishes. We recommend Savoury Yam Chips by IHN graduate Chelsea DeColle.
