Riley Zuckerman's Co-op/Practicum Experience

We have hundreds of rewarding and ongoing work/learn placements with Riley's being no less so! Riley chose to complete several food preparation experiences for her internship hours. This one was a with graduate, and full-time holistic personal chef, Catherine DeVos. It was a day long retreat where a plant-based, but not vegetarian, breakfast, lunch and dessert were served.

Riley shared, "I thoroughly enjoyed working with Catherine to prepare and cook the many dishes for this retreat. I learned how much hard work, time and effort goes into creating and preparing these nourishing dishes for the retreat attendees to enjoy. It was also definitely a bit of a learning curve working in a kitchen that you are not used to and have to first familiarize yourself with that environment, along with all of the kitchen supplies available. Time management skills are key. Knowing when to start each dish within time constraints to make sure everything is done and ready to serve at the same time. I have a great appreciation for how much planning and effort actually goes into one day service! I greatly admired watching Catherine work away in the kitchen, taking on making many recipes so retreat participants would enjoy the variety and abundance of food. She truly is a natural."

Catherine let us know that, "Riley was a very diligent and a great worker, very professional. She was prepared when she arrived, which was even before me! We, perhaps, were preparing more food than we had time for, so we had to rush, but all the food was served on time. Riley was perfect for this assignment. She has an interest in plant-based food prep so she was perfect, in fact she already had experience making the veggie rice paper wraps. I hope she enjoyed herself as she worked hard that day."

There is much more to its efficacy! Meet Dr. Eric Berg, and learn his take on the “real benefits” of ACV in his video, 9 Unexpected Amazing Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Everyone loves to dive into a great dip but sometimes it can feel a little repetitive. An easy way to mix it up is to blend in some veggies to change the flavour and add in some extra nutrients. We recommend this Roasted Carrot Hummus with Herbed Flatbread recipe by IHN graduate, Lara Rae.
