Erika Weissenborn is the founder of Fresh In Your Fridge, a Vancouver-based private chef experience that makes nutritious food simple and accessible. The service allows her clients to focus on what is most important to them, removing challenges of meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep. All the meals Erika's team prepares are personalized to support one's health, and reduce environmental waste.
Cecilia Huon is the founder of Holistice Wellness, the culmination of her belief that the body, mind, and spirit, are connected, and that an issue in one area can manifest in another. In order to restore balance in her clients' health, she employs Holistic Nutrition, Bio-Energization Synchronization, Reiki, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Aroma-Massage, and Indian Head Massage, through her 1-on-1 consultations.
Lisa Balsdon is the founder of Live In Motion, where she helps individuals face the challenges of becoming lean, healthy, and strong, both physically and mentally. Her health packages include personal training, private yoga sessions, nutritional cooking, and nutritional and lifestyle coaching. She hosts various boot camps, events, and classes, in the GTA, online, and in Costa Rica, both for individuals and corporations.

The Admin Team Welcomes All New January 2022 Students!
We are beyond delighted to welcome a new group of holistic influencers, each with an incredible personal story leading them to IHN. On Monday, January 10 we were Live, Virtual, and in two different time zones. But unlike the years of IHN before March 2020, students joined us from local and global spaces, simultaneously, from their part of the world. Once again this year, orientation set up the distinct and genuine evolution of a campus culture outside of physical walls. In-class learning has a long history of tradition but we want to relish in the presence of faculty and students feeling the real-time engagement, warmth and connection through cyberspace—no pun intended on the connection!
Ontario campuses + Online Eastern students, were hosted by the Elizabeth Papadopoulos you all know well, with Vancouver campus + Online Pacific students having Jason Madden, Vancouver's Campus Manager, at the helm for his eighth consecutive event.
As a graduate from many years ago, you might remember your orientation before you started the in-class program at any of our campuses. The online experience is virtually the same with all of the exercises and activities you remember. All components of the experience are still alive and well with a new addition of video produced to share the power of holistic nutrition. It features our field's pathfinders; miraculous personal stories of healing; and a focus on food, soil, mind-set, detox, lifestyle, environment and spirit. Students leave knowing that they are in the right place, starting the right life-changing journey.

We Are Now Peers, On A Unified Mission
Orientation day connects, aligns, and sets the intentions of our new students. Meeting classmates and moving through enlightening dedication and expectation exercises, allows conversations to flow and lifetime friendships to begin. At one particularly, illustrative time, students move into smaller groups in Zoom breakout rooms to learn of the motivations that brought them to IHN. By the end of the day, there were no strangers among them, only peers on a unified, personal and professional mission.

Join us Tuesday, January 25 at 7:00 PM ET for a 1 hour webinar, as Dr. David Duizer, ND outlines a holistic approach to metabolism assessment and treatment. From disrupting metabolism and slowing metabolic rate to causing mental/emotional distress and disordered eating habits, popular weight loss programs often cause more harm than good. Sustainable, reliable, and effective weight loss programs need to be individualized, which comes from understanding how to properly analyze metabolism and calorie-burning efficiency. Through clinical laboratory and functional testing, David is able to determine high-value targets for rapid metabolic improvements and efficient weight loss.

An exercise snack is a short form of movement that yields similar benefits as a longer workout. In a February 6, 2021 article (3 minute read), Alisa Cook wrote that “[Exercise] snacks don’t need to be highly structured, either. They can be as simple as including short bursts of speed during a daily walk, or when climbing stairs”. Holistic-centred examples include daily strolls to your favourite juice shop, ensuring you step away from your desk for some calisthenics, and a favourite, making sourdough bread. In fact, a study that examined climbing stairs three times a week yielded a higher oxygen update in participants!

Many consider zucchini as a vegetable, but it is a young fruit belonging to the Cucurbitaceous family, along with cucumbers and gourds. The zucchini originated in Italy, where it was called, “little squash” and was later introduced to America in the 1920’s. The entire zucchini is edible, including the skin, seeds, and flesh, which are all full of phytonutrients. We recommend including this nutritious fruit in healthy snacks as IHN graduate Sarah Vrabel did in her Zucchini Bread recipe.
