Exceedingly Grateful
Georgia Gives Day

And More...!
All of us are grateful for the love and support that each of you provide our IHNA families. The work at IHNA is done by many hands and by many wallets.

As our families heroically struggle to provide for their children, I know for a fact that what each of you does makes a difference in the lives of our guests.

Two stories:
When one of our families entered the network this year, with tears in their eyes, after the first night at the host church, they gratefully exclaimed that these strangers were more welcoming than their own family. Finally, they had a place where they were accepted and loved with no judgement.

This past Sunday, I was the overnight host and got to observe a family of four play Uno. This was quality time. There was no stress present. There was no chaos to manage. The kids gleefully won each of the games and there were smiles on all of their faces. While this is a simple observation, it is a powerful one!

Thank you!
So far in 2016, we have served 13 families (15 adults and 29 children).  Most likely this will be our final number for the year unless we have a family who has a short term need at the end of the year.

Each of our families were given much compassion by our host and support congregations. They were provided with extensive case management by our Service Director to prepare them for their moves into permanent housing. We celebrate with those who are successfully living in their new homes and continue to support their efforts.

Currently we are working on bringing on new host congregations and will hopeful to expand our capacity in 2017 which will allow us to be open all year round.  If you know of a congregation that is interested, let us know!

Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service - Nov. 20
Join us on Sunday, November 20, for this gathering of unity and hospitality.
Holiday Benevolence Market - Dec. 4

IHNA is proud to be participating once again in the annual Holiday Benevolence Market on Sunday, December 4th, at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens, 185 E. Hancock Ave., from noon to 2 p.m. This is another great way to support the work we are doing together.

If you are tired of buying sweaters for uncles who will never wear them, then please join us for the Benevolence Market.

Live music and a light lunch will be provided.

At the Market, patrons are given a "shopping list" that includes all of the agencies represented and items that can be "purchased." The list includes a range of prices.
We invite you to make a difference
Finally, I invite you to continue the important work of Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens by making a gift to our organization. Your support is vital to our efforts and make a difference in the lives of the homeless children and their families that we all serve.

Or you can mail or drop a check off at our office which is 393-1 West Hancock Ave., Athens, GA 30601.

Again we are grateful this Thanksgiving season for all that you do to carry out our important work.
Best regards,
Davin Welter
