Still Time to Register to Participate in Steps For Life across Ontario

Every year in Canada, close to 1,000 workers are killed on the job, or die as a result of a work-related injury or illness. Every one of those families has a story about their loved one. Add to that the thousands who are injured on the job each year, whose stories have just taken a sudden plot twist.

Steps for Life offers a chance to tell those stories and reveal the faces and lives behind the statistics.

IHSA is sponsoring six different walk locations in 2025 and we are currently recruiting walkers, and donations for the various walk locations.

April 28 — Day of Mourning

April 28 is the Day of Mourning. Each year on this day, we honour the thousands of Ontario workers who lost their lives, became ill, or were injured at work.

While we continue to make great strides to improve worker safety, there are those who do not return home to their families due to preventable workplace fatalities.

On April 28, think about the Day of Mourning. Think about a worker who was hurt or became sick. Hold a minute of silence, even on your own, for those who died. We should honour them but also learn from them. This is a good time to think of ways to prevent injuries and illness at your workplace.

The Toronto Regional Truck Driving Championship (TRTDC) will be taking place on May 31st, 2025 at the CAA Centre in Brampton Ontario.

The Central Ontario Regional Truck Driving Championships (CORTDC) will be taking place on June 14th, 2025 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
