Transport Canada Driver Distraction Mitigation Program for Commercial Vehicle Drivers


Did you know that Transport Canada has a Driver Distraction Mitigation Program for Commercial Vehicle Drivers that is designed to help motor carriers and drivers reduce the risk of distracted driving. It provides motor carriers and commercial vehicle drivers with tools and effective anti-distracted driving practices.

WSIB consultation: noise-induced hearing loss


The WSIB has launched a consultation related to occupational noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and is seeking stakeholder feedback on the draft of its operational policy 16-01-04 on NIHL.


New Northern Rural and Remote Driving module now available


As part of its Commercial Vehicle Safety Interactive Video series, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has developed a new Northern, Rural, and Remote Driving interactive video to support road safety awareness and help educate drivers about the unique driving conditions in northern rural and remote communities in Ontario—and improve their ability to navigate these environments safely and responsibly.

Ontario Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) Program condition changes


The MTO, working with Ontario Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) Program participants, has announced upcoming changes to the LCV Program.


The changes include the removal of the 6(d) Holiday Restrictions from Ontario’s LCV Program Condition as well as updates to existing requirements for the Signage on Rear of LCVs Configuration specifications and more.

CBC News: Crackdown on "out-of-control" trucking loophole


The federal government says it’s earmarking money in the upcoming budget to crack down on a tax-evasion scheme the trucking industry has long derided as a $1-billion scam.


The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA), has dubbed the scam "Driver Inc.". This when companies try to save money on payroll taxes by incorrectly classifying drivers as independent contractors rather than employees.

Province cracking down on dangerous drivers


The Ontario government will introduce tough new measures to crack down on dangerous drivers in Ontario. The proposed measures would keep high-risk drivers off the road and strengthen penalties for serious offences.
