Auditor General report highlights critical truck training gaps

Ontario’s Auditor General has identified serious shortcomings in commercial truck driver training and licensing, citing weak oversight that has allowed some underqualified drivers on the road.

The report found instances of reduced training hours, falsified records, and missed instruction on key driving skills across some training providers. It also noted insufficient inspection and monitoring of training schools. The province has accepted all recommendations and committed to strengthening oversight and enforcement to improve safety.
