Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations for the Fleet Safety Council's Driver of the Year and Safety Professional of the Year awards.


Regional recipients will be recognized at the September chapter meetings and will advance for consideration for the Provincial Awards, sponsored by TruckRight and presented during the FSC's 35th annual Educational Conference networking reception on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Reminder: National Substance Use Health Week of Action


Join CAPSA's National Substance Use Health Week of Action from September 7 to 11, 2026. This annual campaign promotes awareness, education, and equitable access to substance use health supports across Canada.


Organizations are invited to participate using CAPSA's communications toolkit, which includes ready-to-use social media content, promotional materials, and daily action themes designed to encourage engagement and conversation.


CAPSA is also inviting individuals and organizations to submit a short video sharing their perspectives on substance use health, equity, and the importance of supporting people who use substances.

Truck Drivers Matter: support for drivers across Canada


Long hours, time away from family, and the demands of the job can take a toll on drivers. Truck Drivers Matter is a Canadian initiative that provides confidential support, connection, and access to chaplains for professional drivers and their families. Whether you're facing a challenge or simply need someone to talk to, help is available.

Alerts, updates, and resources

Changes to Ontario's towing and vehicle storage requirements now in effect


Amendments to Ontario's Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act, 2021 (TSSEA) took effect on July 1, 2026, introducing enhanced qualification requirements for certificate holders, updated operational requirements for towing services, and revised tow truck marking standards.


The annual TSSEA certificate fee increase has also been deferred until July 1, 2027. Tow operators and vehicle storage operators are encouraged to review the changes and ensure compliance with the updated requirements.

Sharing the road with rideables


E-bikes and other rideables are an increasingly common sight on Ontario roads.


The City of Toronto's "Rules for Rideables" campaign promotes safe riding practices, respect for shared spaces, and awareness of where these devices are permitted, helping improve safety for riders, pedestrians, and drivers alike.

CAA launches new Slow Down, Move Over campaign


The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) is reminding Ontario drivers to slow down and move over for all roadside workers, including tow truck operators. Recent research found compliance is significantly lower for tow trucks than for emergency vehicles, highlighting the need for greater awareness of Ontario's Slow Down, Move Over law.


The campaign includes a new public service announcement and advocacy initiatives aimed at improving roadside safety.

Help promote rail safety week this September


Join Operation Lifesaver Canada in recognizing Rail Safety Week from September 21 to 27, 2026. The campaign encourages drivers, pedestrians, employers, and communities to stay alert around railway crossings and tracks and to help prevent rail-related injuries and fatalities through education and awareness.

New Transportation and Supply Chain Workforce Alliance launched


The Government of Canada has launched the Transportation and Supply Chain Workforce Alliance (TASC), co-led by Trucking HR Canada and CIFFA.


Bringing together Canada's trucking, air cargo, marine, and rail sectors, the Alliance will serve as a national forum to address workforce challenges, support skills development, attract new talent, and strengthen collaboration across the transportation and supply chain system.
