Topic: Five New Years' Resolutions for Every BA
Join your colleagues at the January chapter meeting with "a new year" theme. We'll discuss 5 new years' resolutions every BA should have on their radar to start the year out right.

Also we'll have a group discussion of education topics that BA's should familiarize themselves with.
Business Tech Center
8301 East Prentice Avenue, #400
Greenwood Village, CO 80111
303-996-2849 (call for directions if needed)
There are two levels of membership: 1) IIBA National and 2) IIBA Denver Chapter with IIBA National. The meeting cost is free for members of the Denver Chapter. The cost is $10 for non-members of the Denver chapter.  First time guests are free.
Group Q&A
Before the main presentation, please plan to be a part of our group Q&A session.  During this 15 minute session, we'll open the meeting for any Business Analysis questions, or questions related to the evening's topic.  This is your chance to leverage the massive collective experience of the chapter to address questions or problems you are facing as a BA and would like to get the groups input. You may also be the one with just the right piece of information or advice for a question raised to the group.

Message from the Chapter Board
By James Allison, VP Finance

It's a New Year and with 2018 comes new opportunities and IIBA snowman_snowy_dec.jpg is here to help you get those professional resolutions off to a good start.  For the last 11 years, the Denver chapter has been helping Business Analysts advance in their careers. Come celebrate our 11th anniversary with us at our meeting this Wednesday.

What benefits and opportunities does the Denver IIBA Chapter and IIBA offer and how can we help you to meet those New Year's resolutions?
1) Professional Development: IIBA supports Business Analysts at all levels with professional development.  Whether you're just out of school, a seasoned professional, somewhere in between or thinking about a career change as a Business Analyst - we offer activities that promote your professional development such as:
a. Our bi-monthly meetings where we present different topics of interest relevant to Business Analysts and provide opportunities to network with other professionals and recruiters.  Our members have indicated their interest in Agile topics and we have been listening.
b. During our meetings we have open Q&A time slots for analysts to question our peers.
c. Attending IIBA Denver Chapter meetings earns 1.5 hours of CDUs (Continuing Development Units) credits.  Perfect for those needing to maintain their existing certifications and/or are seeking new certifications as business analysts or project managers.
d. Other professionals interested in certification to study with.
e. Opportunities to serve with other Business Analysts on the IIBA Denver Board and committee. Serving on the board is a great way to hone in on your Business Analyst skills, to deepen relationships with other BA's, and to help out your fellow professionals.  We are currently looking for volunteers to help out
i. Volunteer Coordinator
ii. Certification Study Group Director
iii.  Vice President of Events
iv.  Meeting Coordinator
2)  What to expect at a chapter meeting:
a.  Job search and candidate search:

i.  We set aside time at each meeting for our members, recruiters and guests to seek or announce new job opportunities.

ii. Twice a year we have a specific meeting for networking to bring together BA's, job seekers and recruiters in an informal environment.
b.  Guests attend their first meeting for free.  After that it's $10 a meeting or free if you become a member.
 i.  If you haven't attended one of our meetings we hope that you'll take us up on our offer this year to come to one of our meetings for free.
c.  Recruiters are welcome at our meetings; you can meet several candidates looking for work at our meetings throughout the year.  Recruiters can become sponsors and gain more access to IIBA's resources and talent pool, including advertisement and more.
d.  Food, fellowship and soft drinks at every meeting. That's some of the resources that we offer.  Come to our meetings; see our newsletters and website at for the many other resources that we offer.

Thanks to our Volunteers!
by James Allison, VP Finance

This month I'd like to recognize Debbie Rasor our Newsletter Editor and Certification Application Director for her efforts in the IIBA Denver Chapter.  Every month Debbie works hard to put together the Denver chapter's newsletter.  A task that requires lots of communication with IIBA Denver board members and volunteers.  She puts hours of effort into getting everyone on the same page and she helps keep our group unified and on track so that we can serve our members.
In addition, she always brings energy and great insight into each of our meetings. Help me applaud her efforts and thank her in person at our next IIBA meeting this Wednesday or at a future meeting.

We can each benefit from collaboration and sharing with other members. If you would like more information on how to participate, please contact Heidi for more details.
