Do the words "use case" seem daunting to you? Does the phrase "agile development" inspire trepidation?

Join IIBA Denver for lightning talks and a mini-workshop. We will look at the elements of a good user story and a good use case. Then we will walk through the process together and you will walk away with your own well-written examples!

Format will be brief presentation, followed by Q &A, and small team workshop.

Location:
Hacienda Colorado
4100 East Mexico (north of Colorado & I-25)
Denver, CO

Cost :

The meeting cost is free for members of the Denver Chapter and members must first be IIBA International members and must pay local chapter dues. Meeting cost for non-members is $12.

We are using Meetup to manage registrations. You may need to register with Meetup if you haven't already.
Group Q&A:
Before the main presentation, please plan to be a part of our group Q&A session. During this 15 minute session, we'll open the meeting for any Business Analysis questions, or questions related to the evening's topic. This is your chance to leverage the massive collective experience of the chapter to address questions or problems you are facing as a BA and would like to get the groups input. You may also be the one with just the right piece of information or advice for a question raised to the group.

Message from the Chapter Board
By Linda Meserve

IIBA Denver works hard to provide quality networking and training opportunities for business analysis professionals along the Front Range.  We value you, our members and guests, and we are honored to provide you with a supportive professional community.  Like all professional communities, we have continuing operating costs.  And we are proud to say that, to date, we have done so without an increase to chapter dues.
Effective May 1, 2019, IIBA chapter memberships will rise to $35 per year.  If you join or renew before May 1, the current dues of $25 will apply.  Renewals and new memberships purchased after April 30 will be billed at the new rate.
Also starting in May, our meeting attendance fee increase to $12.  Remember, first time guests and IIBA Denver members can waive the attendance fee.  To be counted as an IIBA Denver member, you must be both (a) a currently active member of IIBA International and (b) up to date with your IIBA Denver chapter dues.
We value you as fellow professionals and look forward to being a part of your professional journey.   If you have questions or concerns about this increase, please let us know.  You will find our contact information at  Denver.IIBA.org

IIBA Certifications
by Debbie Rasor, CBAP

IIBA international has changed how they report certifications. Previously they were reported by recipient and their state of residence. Now because of privacy concerns this information is no longer available. So we no longer can search for people in Colorado who are certified so we can't report this exciting news. If you become certified and want to let your fellow Coloradoans know that you are newly certified so we can celebrate with you, please let us know.
BABOK article volunteer needed

by Debbie Rasor, CBAP

Do you want to help other BAs learn about the BABOK and get a portfolio of articles? We currently have two writers for the monthly BABOK articles, and we are looking for one additional writer.  This role involves writing a summary of two BABOK sections once a quarter. There are two other volunteers in this area who write for the other months. The articles are published in the newsletter and on the chapter website. Contact me for more information.

Produced by the Denver Chapter of the IIBA
IIBA is a non-profit organization for Business Analyst professionals.  The goal of the local Denver Chapter is to support IIBA by (1) advancing the role of the Business Analyst as a recognized profession, (2) support opportunities for members to network with, and gain knowledge from, seasoned BA practitioners as well as industry and government leaders, (3) provide access for members to a formal "knowledge base" as well as forums for sharing expertise, expressing professional opinions and building a reputation within the industry, (4) provide pathways to learn about business analysis best practices, and (5) obtain and sustain a level of financial security, sustainability, and autonomy at the local level.
