6:45 - 8:00 - Presentation and Break-out Sessions

Speaker: Grant Warden, CSM
Topic: Agile Business Analysis at Multiple Horizons
Lost Horizon? Join us for an engaging discussion how planning horizons provide a framework for the shift in focus when moving between understanding long-term strategic needs of the organization and the immediate needs of a customer.
After an overview, there will be a group activity to strengthen your learning in how your BA skills can be best applied at the Strategy, Initiative, and Delivery Horizons.
Speaker Background:
Grant Warden is a Senior Business Analyst and Certified Scrum Master dedicated to promoting Agile development and delivery. He is a long-time member of the Denver IIBA and served on the Board of Directors as VP of Communication. He is also active in the Agile Denver group where he shares ideas with other Scrum Masters and Product Owners on best practices.

Group Q&A
Before the main presentation, please plan to be a part of our group Q&A session.  During this 15 minute session, we'll open the meeting for any Business Analysis questions, or questions related to the evening's topic.  This is your chance to leverage the massive collective experience of the chapter to address questions or problems you are facing as a BA and would like to get the groups input. You may also be the one with just the right piece of information or advice for a question raised to the group!
Message from the Chapter Board
by Linda Meserve, ECBA, VP Communications

Interested in getting more involved with IIBA?  A chapter runs on its volunteers and there are many ways to help.
  • Study session coordinator - There is a lot of interest in certification study sessions, and we need someone to be the point of contact.   You don't necessarily need to present as groups are often self organizing.
  • VP Events - Coordinate at least one professional networking event a year. This would involve finding a venue, booking, etc. and identifying potential sponsors.
  • Meeting Coordinator - Responsible for meeting details and ensuring they are completed on schedule.  We have a checklist and 6 meetings per year.
  • Sponsorship - Would your company be willing to sponsor meeting refreshments or a networking event?
  • Board and Committee membership - We can always use active participants.
Maybe you have other ideas on how you can support the chapter.  Please contact any board member, and we'll get you plugged in! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks to our Volunteers!
by Heidi McLaughlin, CBAP, VP Educationthankyou_basket_hdr.jpg

Hi Everyone! Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I would like to thank each and every one of you who has been involved with this chapter in some way or another. Everyone is important to making our group a success - from the board members and volunteers to attendees and supporters. So, thank you very much for all that you've done and all that you've given to the Denver IIBA over the years. And if you're new then we look forward to engaging with you in a meaningful way in the future.

I'd like to also extend a big thank you to Edgar Montes who is the chapter Webmaster. As most of you can probably appreciate, the work of a webmaster is time consuming and detail oriented. It is also extremely valuable for getting word of upcoming meetings and other information out to the public to help our club thrive and grow. So, thank you Edgar for all of your work on our beautiful website. Edgar also manages the conference calls during the meetings so that members and guests can join remotely.

We can each benefit from collaboration and sharing with other members. If you would like more information on how to participate, please contact Heidi for more details.
