ANNUAL LUNCHEON FACTBOOK 2022 CHAMBER SPEAKS TO MEDIA PROPERTY TAX UPDATE LEGISLATION & REFORM INFRASTRUCTURE TALKS WATERWAYS CHAMBER CONFERENCES DRIVING THE DISCUSSION Chamber Holds Annual Luncheon Oct. 6, 2022 | We are happy to announce that three Illinois Chamber of Commerce members received awards from the Illinois ESGR during our Annual Luncheon held at the Palmer House on Thursday, October 6. Motorola Solutions received the Above & Beyond Award in recognition of their generous pay policies when their reserve component servicemembers are away for training or deployment. Dan Reilly, Senior Vice President of Products, Service, and Sales Finance accepted the award from IL Chamber’s VP of Business Services, Laurie Silvey, who currently serves as state chair for Illinois ESGR. United Airlines was honored with an Extraordinary Employer Support Award. This award recognizes sustained employer support of the National Guard and Reserve service. #United received the Pro Patria award in 2015 and has continued to support its reserve component servicemembers in multiple ways. Richard Jones, President of the United For Veterans Business Resource Group accepted the award.

Hanson Professional Services Inc. received the Freedom Award in 2011. Since that time, Hanson has continued to support reserve component servicemembers. They have also acted as an advocate for the Employers who hire National Guard and Reserve. They were recognized with an Extraordinary Employer Support Award with CEO and Chair Sergio “Satch” Pecori accepting.

During our Annual Meeting, we heard a world-class panel discussion on The Future of Energy by Balvy Bhogal-Mitro, Vice President of Strategic and Corporate Planning, CITGO, Jill Graftenreed , Director of Global Enterprise Sustainability at The Boeing Company, and Paul Segal, Chief Executive Officer of LS Power. Illinois Chamber President and CEO Todd Maisch took part in an informative Q&A session with President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Charles Evans discussing things such as the economy and inflation.

The Illinois Chamber was delighted to welcome House Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch and Senate Republican Leader Dan McConchie to our Annual Meeting this year. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to speak to our attendees.

Nov. 2, 2022 | Andrew Cunningham, director of legislative relations for the Illinois Chamber, and Ryan Gleason, manager of the Great Lakes region's government affairs division for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, held a press conference this morning to announce both Chamber's support for Regan Deering for Congress in the Thirteenth Congressional District. 

Nov. 1, 2022 | The Illinois Chamber joined State Rep. Tom Demmer last week for a special announcement at Mel-O-Cream Donuts International, Inc. in Springfield. Demmer received the Chamber's official support in his campaign for State Treasurer.

Nov. 7, 2022 | The Workers' Rights Amendment receives a "clear no," according to Jeff Risch, a partner with the legal firm Amundsen Davis, on WTTW - Chicago PBS. “There is no limit to what a public sector worker can negotiate and actually receive at the bargaining table through this amendment,” Risch said. #voteno

Infrastructure Council Talks Lobbying & Waterways

Nov. 21, 2022 | Illinois Chamber’s Executive Director of Infrastructure, Andrew Cunningham, spoke to Lutheran High School, Springfield, IL students on the Chamber’s advocacy process and how lobbying works at the State Capitol.

Nov. 17, 2022 | Andrew Cunningham, executive director of Infrastructure for the Illinois Chamber, had the chance to attend the Brandon Road Interbasin Project Industry Day in Joliet. The Brandon Road project is a federal risk management strategy that includes a layered system of structural controls and non-structural measures to limit the effects on users and uses of waterways while preventing the transfer of aquatic invasive species from the Mississippi River Basin into the Great Lakes Basin.

Dec. 6, 2022 | We hosted our 9th Annual New Laws Forum at the Doubletree Hilton in Lisle, which focused on new laws and legal changes that will impact all Illinois employers in 2023 and beyond. Government agency representatives discussed recent developments in how laws have affected and will affect their enterprises. In addition, the conference also featured Illinois attorneys and legal experts presenting on Illinois laws.
