Welcome Christy Jewell
Senior Program Manager
We're so excited to share that we have a new team member for our Workforce & Civic Education pillar with the addition of Christy Jewell!
Christy is a workforce development and business relations leader with a proven track record of spearheading strategic partnerships with education and community organizations. She loves designing, implementing, and managing inclusive career counseling programs and development initiatives. Christy most recently served as the Director of Career Planning & External Workforce Development Partnerships for William Jessup University. For more than 19 years, she has been building and nurturing strong business/education partnerships, resulting in significant growth in graduation and employment rates at the college. Christy is a well-respected leader who has been recognized for excellence in communication, program implementation, and fostering meaningful relationships.
She has also local government experience based on her roles at the Ventura County Office of Education, the Ventura Workforce Development Board and her recently elected position as a special district leader. She serves as a Director for the South Placer Municipal Utility District. Christy will play a key role in advancing ILG’s WCE pillar, including WAF, IPPS our school/university partnerships and more.

Meeting Mastery

ILG is excited to return with Meeting Mastery, our new facilitation skills and meeting design workshop specifically tailored to meet the needs of local government staff responsible for coordinating community meetings.
We know that facilitating public meetings can be challenging. The topics are often too technical or contentious, and the format can be intimidating for the general public. That’s why our training will equip you with the skills and tools to plan and implement productive and engaging public meetings that center equity and allow for meaningful participation, whether in person or virtual.
The training will focus on growing your skillset in meeting design and facilitation. We’ll share techniques for more interactive meetings that are accessible and engaging for everyone. We’ll also include tips for active listening and strategies to support diverse viewpoints so you can better navigate interactions with stakeholders and residents.
Positive community-building activities are critical for constructive dialogue and building trust. With our training, you’ll be empowered to facilitate successful meetings that promote inclusive and productive conversations that help foster a more connected and engaged community.

Climate Resilience Nexus
ILG participated in the Climate Resilience Nexus 2024 in Riverside on January 12. The event, hosted by ILG Partners OPR and Climate Resolve, brought together community groups, local governments, and other partners leading work to implement, invest, and chart California’s resilience roadmap across sectors and communities.
