ILG Secures Grant To Improve Diversity In & Access To Local Government Careers
ILG is excited to announce a new workforce initiative called IDEA: Improving Diversity, Equity and Access to Local Government Jobs. IDEA is an 18-month grant that will allow ILG to help public sector employers develop solutions to hiring and retention issues by providing resources, a supportive community of practice and a way to plan collaborative actions that will make it easier for underrepresented communities to learn about, compete for, and thrive in local government careers.
The goal is to showcase local agency workplace innovation and success, while also updating some of local government’s most outdated hiring practices so they are more accessible to and inclusive of historically underrepresented communities. We want to do that by building partnerships between local agency leaders and diverse communities and by collaborating on the development of new workforce strategies that attract the next generation of local agency leaders. Stay tuned for more information about IDEA and how your agency can get involved!
Reach out to Seth Yund at syund@ca-ilg.org if you have resources to share or would like to join our community of practice.
