President's Message

October, 2023

Dear Esteemed Members,

I hope this message finds you in good spirits. It has been two months since the successful Great Lakes Transportation Show, and I am thrilled to report that we are still basking in the glow of its overwhelming success. The positive feedback we've received from both vendors and operators continues to pour in, reaffirming the impact we made together.

Due to the resounding triumph of our recent event, I am delighted to announce that we have secured the dates for the 2024 Show. Mark your calendars for July 30th to 31st, when we will once again converge at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont for what promises to be an even more significant and enriching experience. Your anticipation and active participation are crucial as we aim to make this event bigger and better than ever before.

Your input matters. We encourage you to share any topics, products, services, or speakers you would like to learn more about at our events. Please reach out to your board of directors and let your voices be heard. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of our association.

In other noteworthy news, starting January 1st, 2024, rideshare companies such as Uber/Lyft will be classified as Common Carriers. This monumental change signifies that these companies will now bear direct responsibility in cases of attacks, assaults, or service issues. This change reflects our ongoing commitment to fairness and a level playing field in the transportation landscape. For further details on this classification, please refer to this link [Click Here].

Mark your calendars and plan to join us for some upcoming events:

1. **November 14th Coffee With The ILLBA ** Join us for our upcoming November Zoom meeting where we will delve into the latest digital marketing updates, as well as the intriguing realm of Artificial Intelligence. Stay tuned for the registration link.

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a generous $10,000 grant from the NLA. These funds signify more opportunities for us to enhance the resources available to each one of you. Your valuable suggestions on how we should utilize these funds are eagerly awaited. Please email or text me or any board member with your thoughts.

In closing, I invite you to actively participate in our upcoming events – be it the coffee meeting, the Orlando show, or any of our breakfast meetings. Together, we can achieve remarkable heights. As I mentioned at the Great Lakes Transportation Show, "High Tide Raises All Ships." Let's continue working together, learning, networking, and making our collective voices heard.

Warm regards,
