LIVERY VEHICLE LICENSE RENEWAL STARTS OCTOBER 1, 2025

The Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) is reminding all livery vehicle license holders that the 2026 Livery Vehicle License Renewal Period will begin on October 1, 2025.

License holders are encouraged to prepare in advance and ensure all required documentation is up to date to avoid any delays in processing.

Chicago's Winter Overnight Parking Ban Begins December 1


Parking ban ensures main roads remain clear for snow removal, helping to ensure public safety during winter storms


CHICAGO - The Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) reminds motorists that the Chicago winter overnight parking ban begins on Monday, December 1, 2025 (overnight Sunday to Monday), and is in effect through April 1, 2026. The parking ban is enforced regardless of snow on 107 miles of main streets throughout the city during the hours of 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Amid Growing Economic Strain, Nearly One-Third Of Americans Can't Afford Holiday Travel

 

With the cost of living heading steadily upward in the United States over the past six months, fewer Americans are hitting the road or taking to the skies for the holidays.


The newly released BMO Real Financial Progress Index shows that 62 percent Americans have become more concerned about the cost of living over the past three months in particular. 

Additionally, just 40 percent of Americans plan to spend any money on holiday travel this year, a decline from 45 percent of Americans who traveled for the holidays in 2024.

About one in five (20 percent) Americans, meanwhile, have cancelled or postponed travel plans amid rising costs in the United States, with nearly half of that group (46 percent) saying that travel is a lower priority than daily living expenses.
