The City of Chicago values the dignity, diversity and safety of all its residents. In line with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s commitment to building an inclusive and supportive community, below are resources and essential information on applicable policies and the protections and services available to Chicagoans including immigrants, migrants, and refugees.



The City of Chicago's Welcoming City Ordinance protects immigrant residents, regardless of their immigration status. The ordinance prevents City of Chicago agencies from inquiring about immigration status information, and importantly, guarantees that City of Chicago services are available to all individuals without discrimination based on immigration status.
