Kennedy rehabilitation update: Week 12


CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the rehabilitation of the Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90/94) from the Edens Expressway (I-94) junction to Ohio Street continued to progress the week of June 2.


To accommodate ongoing bridge rehabilitation and ramp repairs, the following ramps are scheduled to close, weather permitting: ​ 

Wednesday, June 11 ​ 

  • Outbound Kennedy to Fullerton Avenue, anticipated to reopen in approximately two weeks. 

Current ramp closures: 

  • Outbound Kennedy to North Avenue, anticipated to reopen by the week of June 9. 
  • Division Street to outbound Kennedy, anticipated to reopen by the week of June 9. 
  • Outbound Kennedy to Ohio Street is closed, anticipated to reopen by the week of June 9. ​

A Look at the Current State of US Air Travel Heading Into Summer


United States airlines are bracing for a weaker-than-expected summer season amid decreasing numbers of international visitors to the U.S. and softening demand for domestic flights.



A major part of the problem is how the U.S. is currently being perceived abroad by would-be international tourists. “Perceptions of the U.S. matter,” says a recent report from travel data analytics firm Tourism Economics. “Sentiment-headwinds are negatively impacting inbound travel.” Those sentiment headwinds include policies and posturing from the Trump administration, like tariffs on well-established trade partners, border security incidents, and national travel advisories, according to Tourism Economics.
