US airlines say new rights for disabled passengers are “overreach”

Source: Travel Tomorrow

A major airline trade organization is urging the Trump administration to put an end to a federal review that could require airlines to compensate passengers in cash for lengthy flight delays.

According to Business InsiderAirlines for America (A4A), which represents 10 carriers—including such industry giants as DeltaAmerican and United—sent a letter to the Department of Transportation (DOT) on Monday calling for the review to be dropped.

Spirit Airlines, Inc. received court approval for a $795 million funded debt equitizing plan on February 20, which the company expects to alleviate its Chapter 11 bankruptcy

It reported around $3.3 billion in debt and laid off several hundred pilots in a money-saving effort. While it’s been trimming pilots and unpopular routes, the airline’s day-to-day operations have not changed.

Fake check scam targets online car sellers

Are you selling a car online? If so, know that scammers may target you. They’ll pretend to be a buyer and try to trick you into sending them money. Here’s how the scam works.

It starts with a message from someone who says they’re interested in buying your car. They say they aren’t local and can’t look at it in person. The “buyer” says they “accidentally” overpaid and asks you to send the extra money back. But if you do, the buyer and the money will be gone because every bit of this was a lie.

Microsoft hangs up on Skype: Service to shut down May 5, 2025

After kickstarting the market for making calls over the internet 23 years ago, Skype is closing down. Microsoft, which acquired the messaging and calling app 14 years ago, said it will be retiring it from active duty on May 5 to double down on Teams. Skype users have 10 weeks to decide what they want to do with their account.

It’s not clear how many people are impacted. The most recent numbers that Microsoft had shared were in 2023, when it said it had more than 36 million users — a long way from Skype’s peak of 300 million users.
