Garland's Polar Express was fantastic! Students had the chance to ride the train on Thursday night and Friday morning of last week. Put on by staff and PTO, the halls of Garland K8 were transformed into aisles of the magical midnight train. As the icy wind passed by the frost-covered windows, students watched the classic tale with pjs and warm cocoa. Thank you to all friends, family, and staff for your wonderful effort to keep the holidays special.

We would like to take a moment and recognize our inaugural graduates who were recently accepted to college!
Jessica Butcher will be attending Baylor University on a $64,000 Baylor Scholarship.
Fernanda Rivadeneiria was also accepted to Baylor University on a $34,000 Baylor Scholarship.
Perry Sanders was accepted to both UNT and Montana State University and is still deciding.
Chen Jung Danny Yu was accepted to Baylor University on a $56,000 Baylor Scholarship.
The first ILTexas student to receive their letter was Ms. Jessica Butcher who could not be more excited to attend Baylor next year! She, inspired by her brother, wants to study Management Information Systems for non-profit organizations. She looks forward to getting involved in Community Engagement programs in Waco. Good luck to all our students! You will always be welcomed as an ILTexas Eagle!

Ms. Yihui Yang the Boomerang
|
ILTexas would like to recognize
Yihui Yang for her exceptional teaching skills. Ms. Yang is an international teacher doing a wonderful job teaching Chinese at Arlington K-8.
Ms. Yang's home town is Zhengzhou, China. She loves theatre and enjoys directing! W
hy is her nickname Boomer-Yang? When it's time to practice Chinese, she circles around the room like a boomerang, pointing to vocab words and phrases along the walls, and only after every word has been correctly pronounced, she will end up again at the front of the classroom.
Ms. Yang believes the best form of education comes when students are inspired to teach themselves and work toward their own visions, creating a feeling of excitement about the lesson. More so, it encourages them to find new words they have not yet used.
"I design the activity and provide project support. I lay the framework, and the students make the project happen."
Her projects include speeches, posters, and even plays!
Thank you, Ms. Yang, for your amazing work!
