Press Conference Key Updates
- The Governor declared that Illinois has enough COVID-19 testing capacity to appropriately test front line workers and essential workers, healthcare workers, nursing home residents and staff, first responders, all correctional facility employees, all people with a compromised immune system, those with symptoms and those who have been in contact with individuals who have testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are now 251 public testing sites across the state offering free Covid-19 tests, including seven drive-thru sites. In the coming days, four additional drive-thru testing sites will open in Chicago's southside Chatham neighborhood, Champaign, Peoria and in Rolling Meadows.
- Illinois' statewide positivity rate is decreasing. The culminative positivity rate since February is 16.8%, in the last week the positivity rate has been 12%, in the last 24 hours the positivity rate was 9.2%. Over the last week, the state has average over 20,000 COVID-19 tests a day.
Regional Metrics Updates
Governor Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan uses health metrics and data to determine 5 phases of reopening the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health began publicly updating their data so that the four regions can see where they stand with regard to moving to the next phase on May 28.
Currently, all four regions will qualify to move to Phase 3
