LOOKING FORWARD with IMA

Dear IMA Supporters,

As we move into another exciting month at the Idaho Manufacturing Alliance, I want to take a moment to recognize the resilience and innovation of the IMA team and Board of Directors. Idaho’s manufacturing sector continues to grow, creating jobs, advancing technology, and contributing to the state’s economic vitality. Our team is working hard to keep agile and grow to serve the needs of manufacturers.

As we look forward to March, the IMA team is continuing its focus on building the internal systems and processes of the organization to bring you relevant and valuable content, upgraded member services, and excellent customer service. As you know,  supply chain opportunities, tariffs, workforce development, and technology are all top-of-mind concerns for manufacturers, and IMA is committed to providing the resources and connections to help our members navigate these changes.

A few things to keep on your radar:

  • Workforce Development Initiatives – Don’t miss our EmpowerHER luncheon on March 27th, where we will dive into expanding opportunities for women entering into the industry, along with great networking opportunities. Special thanks to JSTMicronMarsh McLennan Agency, and TechHelp for supporting this event.  In addition, if you're looking to address and resolve any talent pipeline challenges your company may be facing, I recommend reaching out to Chris Kelly, who is spearheading IMA's work on the US Chamber of Commerce's TPM initiative through our EDGE program.
  • Committee Engagement – There isn't a better way to make connections and support manufacturing than through committee engagement. IMA offers opportunities for members to engage in many committees including state expansion, health care, legislative, and ambassador. You'll keep seeing more information about that in the upcoming months. If you are interested in learning more about participating in a committee, please express interest here.
  • Want to Build Your Business? Check out exporting – Come in and meet with exporting experts who can guide you through the process. IMA and the Idaho Department of Commerce are co-hosting a conversation on March 7th to discuss how Idaho Manufacturers can build their business by exporting to Asia. Click here for more information and registration. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot now.

As always, we appreciate your engagement and support. If there is anything IMA can do to support your business, don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we are strengthening Idaho’s manufacturing future!

New Bill May Impact Manufacturing's Ability to Hire Skilled Workers

Key points about HB 269:

Purpose:

House Bill 269 amends existing law to significantly shorten the lifespan of the Idaho Launch program and its associated funding source, the In-Demand Careers Fund. The fund helps students and adults afford workforce training related to in-demand occupations and can buy approximately 80% of the training up to $8,000. For manufacturing-related jobs that qualify for Launch funding, click here: See this link for the full list: https://nextsteps.idaho.gov/assets/uploads/2023/12/In-Demand-Career-List-Approved-9-13-23-Updated.pdf

Impact:

This could result in the termination of funding for the Idaho Launch program, which provides financial assistance for students pursuing specific in-demand career paths. Occupations like Heavy truck/tractor drivers, assemblers and fabricators, farmers...
