Week 7:
Celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day!
|
Celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day today: Monday, October 10th!
Did you know: Oregon became the 11th state to formally recognize today as Indigenous Peoples’ Day as of last year (2021). This day calls for a time to honor the contributions made by our Indigenous communities with accurate historical representation. It is important to acknowledge all of Oregon as Indigenous land and to learn more about the Indigenous communities in which once occupied the land you now call your home. Visit Native-land.ca to learn why this matters. Let this day be the first of many to honor, educate and advocate for Indigenous voices.
