There is that near you which will guide you.
O, wait for it, and be sure to keep to it...

Pastoral Care in Ithaca Monthly Meeting
— Cai Quirk

IMM used to have a Pastoral Care Committee, a committee that assists individual Friends with whatever difficulties may stand in the way of living in the Spirit. Some Friends have been moved to do this care individually, but conversations in Nominating Committee and beyond suggest that we may be leaning towards doing something more along the lines of communal care again.

Nominating Committee would like to invite you to a conversation on the subject. This is not yet specific planning but gathering folks together for worship sharing. Showing up does not obligate you to participate in future planning/potential committees!

Please join us for worship sharing around the subject of pastoral care in Ithaca Monthly Meeting on Sunday January 31st at 9a before worship.
Friends Center for Racial Justice in 2020
Elizabeth Schneider

I asked Angela to sit down with me and share what the Friends Center for Racial Justice (FCRJ) has been doing this year, so it could be shared with our Meeting. I wanted to do this because I observe that Angela does not compartmentalize the work of FCRJ and racial justice. That work is part of her day-to-day life, wherever she goes. Below is a quick review of what she was up to in this past year.

The start of 2020 seems far in the past. It was before covid-19 when travel was safe. For Angela it meant a chance to go to Florida for a visit with family, and also experience the warm sun. (Click to read more...)
UN Treaty Affirms Nuclear Weapons Illegal as well as Immoral
 Garry Thomas
At his sentencing on October 15, in Federal Court in Brunswick, Georgia, Kings Bay Plowshares activist Patrick O’Neill told Judge Lisa Godbey Wood: “This court, by its refusal to consider the lawlessness of weapons of mass destruction, is essentially declaring the end of the world to be acceptable.” (Click to read more...)

Welcome Baby Damian!

The Meeting’s Ad Hoc Working Group for Immigrant Support, Ambroise Lumanikio Nganyinoko and Moon Woolf are happy to announce the birth of Damian Ambroise Ngayimoko-Woolf, who was born on December 12 at 11:25p. Ambroise, as many in the Meeting will remember, is the Congolese refugee who lived in the Burtt House for several years, beginning in 2013, upon his release for from the Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, NY. He is still in the process of seeking political asylum with the help of the local chapter of Amnesty International and the Working Group of the Meeting.
Both baby Damian and his mom are doing well, staying in Brooktondale, and getting lots of help from large network of support, which presently includes her parents, with whom Ambroise is presently staying. He returns to SUNY/Albany in mid-January to continue his engineering studies. The Woolf parents will be returning to their home in Cambridge, MA, shortly.

The Working Group, with the help of Mary Balfour, has set up an account with Jillian’s Drawers to begin diaper service for Moon Woolf. If members of the Meeting would like to help, they can send checks to Mary Balfour, 26 Lake Shore Road, Lansing, NY 14882. For details, please email mbalfour123@gmail.com. Her Venmo account is: @Mary-Balfour.
