Support IMPACT This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
About IMPACT
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the most diagnosed cancer among men in California. With prostate cancer cases rising faster in California than the national average, early detection and access to treatment are more important than ever.
The IMPACT (IMProving Access, Counseling and Treatment) program provides free, high-quality prostate cancer treatment to eligible low-income, uninsured, and underinsured men across California. A partnership between UCLA Urology and the California Department of Health Care Services, IMPACT connects patients with doctors, hospitals and community providers statewide.
The IMPACT team also provides personalized assistance to current IMPACT patients who have secured Medi-Cal and need support transitioning to their new coverage.

Nearly 30,000 Californians Will Face Prostate Cancer This Year -
Free Treatment is Available
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer will be the second most diagnosed cancer in California in 2025, with nearly 30,000 new cases diagnosed and 4,200 men dying from the disease. California’s IMPACT program is here to help by providing free, high-quality prostate cancer treatment to low-income California residents.
“We know that early detection and treatment greatly increase the chances of long-term survival,” explains Mark S. Litwin, MD, MPH, professor and chair of UCLA Urology.
IMPACT is expanding its statewide network of community providers, health facilities, local health departments and other community-based health organizations that evaluate, treat, or refer patients. If you are interested in joining our network of providers that evaluate, treat or refer patients, please contact us at info@california-impact.org.
To support your efforts during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month this September, we’ve updated our online toolkit with new resources to help you share information about free prostate cancer treatment available through the IMPACT program.
The toolkit includes marketing and outreach materials in both English and Spanish - perfect for sharing on your website, newsletters, email communications, and in your community. We’ve also added a ready-to-use social media promotion kit that pairs with our downloadable graphics, making it easier than ever to raise awareness.
Help us ensure that eligible California men know about this lifesaving program.
If you know someone who may be eligible, have them contact IMPACT at 1-800-409-8252, info@california-impact.org or click here to complete the contact form.
