Dear Parents,

We are very happy to tell you that the White Paper is here! It is an excellent commentary and takes on the critics head on. We also received a link to a Parents Magazine to be published in April 2012. The IOCDF (International OCD Foundation) is taking on PANDAS awareness and the email traffic from new parents is just --- a lot! --- But our volunteers are juggling questions between work and family. We remain steadfast.

Dr. Swedo's White Paper

The long awaited White Paper was forwarded today by Dr. Swedo. It can be "googled" and will be published in PubMed (dates to be determined). We have created a link here for your quick review. Please be sure to bring this in hand to any doctor or doctor's appointments you may have!

Here is the link:  Dr. Swedo's White Paper

It is entitled: "From Research Subgroup to Clinical Syndrome: Modifying the PANDAS Criteria to Describe PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome)." The paper is co-authored by Dr. Jim Leckman, Yale Child Study Center, who is a renowned expert on OCD and Tourette's syndrome and also Dr. Noel Rose, one of the pioneers of the discovery of Multiple Sclerosis, a respected elder-statesman in medicine.

Parents Magazine Article on PANDAS Families

Parents Magazine recently wrote an article on PANDAS.  The article highlights the Bossman family and their struggle with PANDAS and also my child's two year struggle and cure of PANDAS. Many doctors we all know are quoted. It is a very upbeat, positive article about this illness and will raise awareness for young parents.

Let's not forget it is all our voices that is making this awareness happen. Every parent has worked hard for this....... we'll just keep pushing.
