Greetings,

I hope you and your families are safe following Hurricane Helene. While the damage from this storm has been immense, I’m relieved to share that my family is safe, and our property damage was minimal. However, we are still without power and internet at the office, which has forced us to work remotely from home and our Lexington office. We appreciate your patience with response times for calls and emails as we adjust during this period.

Listed below are some helpful assistance resources. Hopefully, you will find them helpful.

Important Assistance Resources:

  1. Claims Help: The S.C. Department of Insurance will host a Claims Assistance "Village" on October 7-8, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Aldi’s parking lot on Whiskey Road, South Aiken. Representatives will assist residents with filing insurance claims and applying for FEMA disaster assistance.
  2. FEMA Individual Assistance: If you suffered uninsured damages, FEMA is offering direct financial assistance. Residents in Aiken County and other affected areas can begin applying online here, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or through the FEMA app. If you use relay services, provide FEMA with your service number.

Important Extended Deadlines:

  • Voter Registration Deadline Extended: Due to the storm, South Carolina’s voter registration deadline has been extended to October 14. Learn more here.
  • Grace Period for Property Taxes: Aiken County property tax payments due in September now have a grace period until November 1, 2024. Additionally, the DMV and DNR are waiving late fees for vehicle renewals until 11/1/24. Learn more here.
  • IRS Tax Relief: Individuals and businesses affected by the storm now have until May 1, 2025, to file various federal tax returns. This includes all of South Carolina, as well as neighboring states. Learn more here.

Please stay safe and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We’re here to support you as we navigate these challenging times together.

We sincerely appreciate your business and the relationship we've built together.

Sincerely,

Robert Freitas
