Dear VMS Parents,
Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work through the challenge of dealing with the increasing occurrence of COVID-19 within the Bay Area. Fortunately, we have not had any cases of the virus reported within our VMS community.
Today's
Order to Shelter in Place
from the Alameda County Health Officer has several exemptions, including Educational Institutions for the purpose of facilitating distance learning.
Our teachers met today following social distancing protocol and held a Zoom meeting to plan and prepare for the upcoming weeks. Teachers are busy creating
learning continuity plans
for all levels. I can assure you, we have the most talented, creative and dedicated teachers who look forward to connecting with their students and supporting families as we work together to keep our children engaged and learning, even away from the campus.
You will be receiving an email from your child’s teacher by Tuesday afternoon. We are planning age appropriate activities, suggestions for parents, assignments, Zoom class meetings or circle times, and lots of exciting ways to stay connected.
It is very important to all of us at VMS to follow our mission and continue inspiring the joyful pursuit of learning for every child and to stay connected to all of our families. Teachers will be available through email or a scheduled phone call to support your home learning. This is a big adjustment for everyone and we know how rapidly things can change.
We are committed to supporting our teachers financially through this challenging time. In addition, your payments for before and after school childcare will not be processed for the month of April.
We will stay in communication and share updates as they become available.
With gratitude,
Ann
