Email Safety Guidelines

Dear Parishioners of Christ Church,

WARNING!

We want to take a moment to warn you of recent fraudulent activity aimed at churches and charity organizations so that you are fully informed and protected against such efforts. Recent emails have been distributed asking individuals and groups to contribute money to various causes under falsified email accounts. The accounts accurately depict sender names but are sent from unknown or unfamiliar domains. To safeguard you from such scams, we'd like to mention the following two items:

  1. Individual staff members of Christ Church will NEVER make an emailed solicitation for funds, or any request that involves contributions via a third party to a third party (as an example, purchasing a gift card at Walgreens and mailing it to an address other than that of the church office). When in doubt, please always ask. Our office number is 903-597-9854.
  2. Emails from Christ Church Episcopal have a domain name of @christchurchtyler.org. Here's an example:dluckenbach@christchurchtyler.org

Not sure how to check?

Hover over the "from" line of your email with your mouse

to see the entire email address.

A fraudulent email may look similar to the below:

dluckenbach@christchurchtyler23x.com

dluckenbach@christchurchtyler.yahoo123.org or even ccare9085@gmail.com

If you receive an emailed solicitation or any request from Christ Church that seems inconsistent with the above two points, please call us and let us know. Do not open or forward the email.

We consider it a privilege to safeguard our community.

Gratefully yours in Christ,
