It was recently brought to our attention that many members have had trouble accessing NYCAPS ESS Portal. This portal is a very important tool that all of our members should be able to access. The NYCAPS ESS portal allows you to view your paystubs and tax records, as well as allowing you to alter your benefits in a variety of ways. The portal has other features as well; a brief explanation of the varied possible actions available to our members is found in the table below:
It is imperative that you confirm your access to the portal if you have not already done so. There is no need to inform the Union, but for your own benefit you should be sure that you can access the portal. You never know when you might need to access the information found on the portal in a pinch.

Your User ID is your 7-digit Employee ID which can be found on any of your pay stubs.

Your Initial Password consists of the last 2 digits of your SSN, an underscore (“_”), the first 3 letters of your birth month (must be upper case), your birth day including the leading zero, and your birth year (e.g., the password for an employee with an SSN of XXX-XX-XX99 and a birth date of January 01, 1910 would be 99_JAN011910).

Many have reported however that their initial password did not actually work.
The best way to rectify this is to send an email to NYCAPSESSPASSWORD@schools.nyc.gov
using your named DOE Email (NOT your school code email).

In the email provide your name and Employee ID (Which, to reiterate, can be found on any of your paystubs) and simply request a password reset.
