Dear VMS Parents
As you know, with every decision we make at VMS, we always come back to doing what we believe is in the best interest of the child. Now is no exception.
With the support of the Board of Trustees and my leadership team, we have determined
Valley Montessori School will be temporarily closed and shift to age appropriate remote learning. This closure will begin Monday March 16 and continue through our Spring Break, returning April 13.
This is a rapidly evolving situation across our neighborhoods, country and world. I appreciate your ongoing partnership and support as we make difficult decisions to keep our students and employees safe and healthy.
First Two Days of Closure
March 16 and 17 will be onsite teacher workdays to finalize the Learning Continuity Plan (Remote Learning) for the students.
Learning Continuity Plan
Our teachers are working remotely during this time to support your children as we implement this plan.
- Parents will receive additional information via email after it is finalized on Tuesday.
- Lesson plans/home learning will vary by level.
- Teachers will partner with you, the parents, to ensure education continues during the closure.
Teachers and Administration will communicate via email.
Access to Campus During Closure
School will be closed to all but required staff. A deep cleaning will be performed before school resumes.
Parent/ Teacher Conferences March 26 - 27
Cancelled until further notice.
Science Day Projects for LE and UE
The students will still be completing their Science Day projects as part of the remote learning plan due by April 3. More information will follow from your teachers.
Social Distancing Recommendations
The World Health Organization (WHO) as well as other health organizations are STRONGLY recommending people
limit travel and practice Social Distancing
(limiting exposure to other people/groups and keeping a distance of 6 feet or more) which may reduce the spread of the virus.
For the safety of our community, it is imperative to notify VMS if you or a family member is exposed to, have symptoms of, or have been confirmed as having COVID-19.
This is an unprecedented time and we care for how all our students manage this big change away from the school they love. We strongly encourage you to use the following resources to guide you as you speak to your children.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
