I understand that this change may require some adjustments to your plans. It’s certainly not ideal and I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, rescheduling the ceremony earlier will provide the best opportunity for us to celebrate this significant milestone for all of our families without the threat of severe weather.
Graduates, please share this information with your family and guests so that they can see the revised schedule and adjust accordingly. For the afternoon, we encourage you to arrive at least 25-35 minutes in advance of the processional. You need to allow ample time for parking and arriving at the Great Lawn area. You should gather on the York Lawn by NO LATER THAN 12:15 p.m. Families should proceed directly to the Great Lawn to line up to watch the Processional; they need to be in place by 12:30 p.m. I’d recommend planning to complete all of your experiences before 2 p.m. or before your Grad Walk time so you can get them all in. We will maintain a steady clip for the Grad Walk in order to move swiftly through the colleges in the afternoon.
For those of you who are absolutely unable to meet their updated Grad Walk appointment, we will work to accommodate you at another point during the afternoon block as long as you arrive before 4:00 pm. Please see the staff at the Grad Walk Check-In by Luter when you get to campus and they will be happy to assist you.
In the event of further changes due to the weather, we will notify you promptly via the ChatBot, texts to the phone number provided at registration, the website and our official social media channels. We encourage you to stay connected and stay informed. We are fully double-set inside the Field House for the Grad Walk and the Faculty Reception tents for the afternoon, so if the weather shifts, we are prepared to shift as well.
Let me thank all of you for your understanding and flexibility during this time. Your assistance, support, and enthusiasm are invaluable as we navigate these weather-driven adjustments. The entire university community is looking forward to celebrating with you and commemorating this significant milestone in your lives.
Best,
Kevin
