GOVERNMENT of Canada Just Announced information of the $600 COIVD 19 Support.


The Government of Canada announced a one-time $600 payment in recognition of the extraordinary expenses faced by persons with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through COVID 19 the SBHANA, through grants from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and the Edmonton Community Foundation, has been able to support over 40 members since the beginning of COVID 19. To continue all that the SBHANA does and offers we need your SUPPORT. Donate $10 and that money has the potential to turn into $30. This is a great way to give back!!!

SBHANA Presents
"The Connection Series"

Join us for a series of talks on topics relevant to individuals and parents/caregivers who have children with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. Once a month we will cover topics ranging from dealing with agencies such as FSCD, AADL, Health Benefit Plans and others, social skills and independence, bowel and bladder issues, shunt issues, transitioning from adolescents to adulthood and employment. 

Connection Series Line Up

  • September 17 @ 7:00 PM Darlene Cathcart, a parent that has gone through the journey and has dealt with FSCD, AADL, Health Benefit Plans and other programs. Darlene is a wealth of knowledge and she will provide you with tips and tricks to guide you through this journey. 

  • October 15th @ 7:00 PM Betty Ann Thibodeau, a Pediatric Urology Nurse Practitioner at the Stollery Children's Hospital will discuss Bowel and Bladder.

  • November 19th@ 7:00 PM The Shunt Series Guest Speaker to be Announced

At each speakers series you will have the opportunity to listen to: 

  • Connection Series will be done through ZOOM
  • Speakers who will discuss topics and issues that are related to spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus 
  • Hear tips and strategies about how best to get the answer you need when talking to professionals 
  • Opportunity to talk with professionals directly 
  • Question and Answer period to allow you the time to ask the questions
