Dear Friends and Families,
In response to guidelines issued by Governor Evers and the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services regarding COVID-19, and maintaining the well-being of our singers and families, the Milwaukee Children’s Choir is suspending all scheduled rehearsals and activities planned through April 13. This includes at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC) and all offsite locations.
The MCC office is also temporarily closed. However, the MCC staff will be working at home during this time and remain available by phone (414) 221-7040, or email:
Ultimately, our number one concern is for the safety of our choristers, their families, the MCC staff, and the Milwaukee community.
Despite the current situation we are facing, the Board of Directors and staff continue to
positively move forward to finish this season strong
and prepare for the 2020-2021 season:
- We are excited to announce that Bill Busch is MCC’s new Executive Director! Bill brings 40 years of experience in the performing arts and nonprofits to this position. He has already made a wonderful impact on MCC since joining the team as General Manager in August 2019. We know Bill will continue to have a positive influence on MCC in this leadership role.
- Hiring an Artistic Director remains a top priority. The Board of Directors is working to build a hiring committee and started to identify individuals to participate. If you have the skills or knowledge to support this committee, we would love to hear from you. Please email MCC Board President Joe Ciancaglini at email@example.com. We remain committed to filling this role and announcing our new Aristic Director for next season as soon as possible.
- MCC singers prepare for Concert Tour in June. On tour, singers will perform at the University of Notre Dame, Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Arlington National Cemetery and Gettysburg National Military Park. More than this, during the 6-day experience our youth will get to participate in the Wreath Laying Ceremony, collaborate with the Notre Dame Children’s Choir, and reflect on our nation’s history by visiting the National Mall. Concert Tour is packed full of adventure and fun. Follow us on Facebook so you can virtually join us on this journey.
A final note. As the global health crisis continues, we are faced with continued cancellations of concerts and productions, causing many nonprofits and artists to lose economic and social stability. Now is the time for us to come together and support the performing arts and Milwaukee nonprofits.
How can you help?
o DONATE. Every dollar helps. When you give to organizations like the United Performing Arts Fund and Milwaukee Children’s Choir, you open opportunities to the performing arts for our community. You also support Milwaukee artists and future artists.
o SHARE on socials. Tell your online community why you support the performing arts.
o INVITE others directly to donate.
Remember, when you support the performing arts, you're helping make an incredible impact on all facets of our community, especially the individual.
Thank you for helping make our singers a success and an even bigger thanks for your continued support during these challenging times.
With warm regards,
Milwaukee Children’s Choir Board of Directors and Staff
