IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR

SOTIPS SCORING

September 2022

As of September 2022, we have received information from Bob McGrath, the developer of the SOTIPS Assessment that the scoring regarding Secure Facilities and Community Access needs to be adjusted based on the structure of Colorado’s Community Corrections and Work Release Programs. The assessment was created and normed in Vermont, whose programs differ from Colorado.

Our Community Corrections and Work Release programs allow individuals to spend time in the Community without direct supervision although they are sleeping in a secure correctional facility. This lack of supervision may provide the opportunity to re-offend which was previously not considered.

Please see the attached infographic for scoring criteria details. This was created as guidance for Treatment Providers, Evaluators, and those providing supervision to this population. It is highly recommended this document be printed and included with their scoring guide or manuals.

This item will be updated in all Training materials for Introduction and Boosters training. All individuals conducting this assessment are required to adjust their scoring moving forward. It is not necessary to re-score previously completed assessments.

If you have any questions, please reach out to a VASOR-2/SOTIPS Trainer or see the contact information on the infographic.
