IMSA News

Revised Bylaws Now Available; Associate Responses Needed

In the July e-newsletter, we reported that recent changes to the IMSA Bylaws have resulted in the creation of two new membership categories as well as the opportunity for more members to vote and serve in volunteer leadership roles. A copy of the bylaws, including highlighted revisions, can now be found on the IMSA website under Member Resources.

The new membership categories will go into effect with the 2024 membership drive but if you were previously categorized as an Associate member, we need your help. As an Associate, you should have received an email in July asking that you review the criteria for the new categories – Operational and Retired – to ensure you are classified correctly. Following is an overview of all three categories that are impacted:

  • Associate members are defined as employees of a privately-owned business whose primary responsibilities are in the sales and distribution of products and are actively engaged in IMSA-certified public safety operations.
  • Operational members are defined as an employee of a privately owned business or consultant who is actively engaged in IMSA-certified public safety operations, except those who are involved with the sales and distribution of products.
  • Retired members include any individual that is retired from the employment of a government agency, private business or sustaining company.

If you believe your membership is impacted by these changes and did not receive an email, please contact [email protected]
