Welcome to the Spring edition of our quarterly newsletter from the College and Academic Counseling team! We want to update you on the events that are taking place in our office.

SOPHOMORE CLASS

Naviance Student

Please contact your student's CAC if you misplaced your registration code that was sent to you in December. Once registered, you will have access to your student's personalized space on Naviance Student. We have populated each student's folder with personal records (based on Power School information) and test history.

Naviance Student offers many excellent tools and resources to assist students and their families in the college planning process. It can also help you explore the past three years of IMSA college acceptance data. We encourage you to take some time to browse all links and tabs of your student's Naviance Student space.

JUNIOR CLASS

College Day

We hope to see you at the 33rd Annual College Day at IMSA on April 23! The morning will begin with our keynote speaker, Andy Borst, the Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Since Andy’s arrival at UIUC in 2016, he has been instrumental in implementing many significant initiatives. One of them, the Illinois Commitment, guarantees that any admitted student who is a legal resident of Illinois and whose family makes below $67,101 will receive free tuition and fees at UIUC.

The College Fair will immediately follow the keynote address and the day will conclude with optional classroom presentations. Here is the schedule:

8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.: Registration at the IMSA front desk
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: Keynote address in the Auditorium by Andy Borst
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: College Fair in the Main Gym
11:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Classroom presentations I
12:20 p.m. - 12:50 p.m.: Classroom presentations II

SENIOR CLASS

Parent Survey

Now that we are done with the college counseling process for our seniors, we ask you to complete the Senior Parent Survey. Your feedback and comments are extremely important to us as we gear up for our work with the Class of 2023. Our goal is to continue to provide a comprehensive college counseling experience to our students and families. The Senior Parent Survey will be open from May 3 through May 31. More information about it will be sent out at the beginning of May.

College Admission and College Matriculation

By now, all seniors received their college admission decisions along with financial aid packets. If you need help understanding your student's financial aid offers, please do not hesitate to contact your CAC. We would be more than happy to go over it with you. Please remember that your student will commit to and deposit at only one school by May 1.

INFORMATION ON TESTING

AP Exams

The AP Exams will be administered between May 2 and May 13. This year 274 students will take 677 AP examinations.

Standardized Testing

IMSA will administer a state-mandated SAT to all juniors and PSAT10 to all sophomores on Wednesday, April 13. The SAT will take place from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and the PSAT10 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

CAC WEBINARS

"Comparing Financial Aid Packages" webinar for Senior Parents will be held on April 7. We will post it on the CAC website HERE if you are not able to join in.

COLLEGE SPOTLIGHT

Since our seniors are currently choosing colleges they will attend in the fall, we would like to feature two articles published in the Acronym.
