Welcome Nurse Ilia McAllister

My name is Ilia McAllister, and I'm excited to join the IMSA community as your new school nurse. I've been in healthcare since I was 16 years old, and becoming a nurse was a lifelong dream of mine—something I’ve been passionate about since childhood. Helping people brings me comfort and happiness, and I'm truly grateful to turn that into a career every day.

When I'm not taking temperatures or bandaging mystery scrapes, you can find me trying to keep my houseplants alive (success rate: questionable) and I enjoy finding new ways to stay organized—though my sock drawer and my snack stash would tell you otherwise. I’m looking forward to being a part of this amazing team and contributing to a healthy and supportive environment at IMSA.

Looking forward to a healthy, happy school year with all of you!

CLASS OF 2026

The Illinois Department of Public Health requirement for Meningococcal Vaccine is as follows:  any child entering the 12th grade shall show proof of having received two doses of meningococcal conjugate vaccine prior to entering the 12th grade.

The first dose shall have been received on or after the 11th birthday, and the second dose shall have been received on or after the 16th birthday, at least eight weeks after the first dose. If the first dose is administered when the child is 16 years of age or older, only one dose is required.  If your child is NOT 16 before the start of school, you will have one month after their birthday to submit this documentation.

Please arrange for the administration of this vaccine with your primary health care provider. Once your student has received this vaccine, please submit the documentation to the health office as soon as possible via email to nurse@imsa.edu or fax (630/907-5938). You may use this form to submit documentation.

Save the Date's: Upcoming Leadership Events

2025 Student

Leadership Exchange (SLX)

All Class of 2027 students are required to attend the Student Leadership Exchange (SLX) on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. This is a requirement for completion of the LEAD program. SLX is a day long event, however students will not have a typical LEAD session on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

Students and staff participating in SLX are expected to wear business casual or business professional attire, commonly referred to as “Convocation style” within the IMSA community. LEAD facilitators will help uphold this expectation on the morning of SLX. Please refer to item #4 for examples of appropriate attire.

Full Schedule Here!

Module #12 - Thursday, May 1st, 2025

Hey Class of 2027!

You will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the program and SLX, get your letters back that you wrote to yourself at the beginning of your sophomore year, and enjoy you last class together!

We will end this module with an opportunity to hang out outside around the fire pit (weather permitting).

Hall Community Coordinator Elections

Students — be on the lookout for the Hall Community Coordinator application and election Qualtrics form coming your way toward the end of the school year!

As a reminder, for the 2025–2026 school year, each residence hall will have two Hall Community Coordinators (HCCs) as part of the Residential Student Leaders (RSL) program.

  • One HCC was selected through the RSL application process earlier this year.
  • The second HCC will be elected by the hall community, with support from Student Council.

Stay tuned for more details and get ready to be part of the selection process!

2025-2026

Dimension Focus Groups:

Summer Work Preparation

Students — keep an eye out for communication about upcoming Student Council Dimension Focus Group Sessions!

These sessions will focus on Student Council’s newly structured Dimensions for the 2025–2026 school year:

  • Communication
  • Clubs
  • Student Engagement
  • Health and Wellness
  • Residence Life
  • Academics

The purpose of these focus groups is to gather community input to help Student Council center their efforts for the upcoming school year — and even more importantly, guide their preparation work over the summer.

We ask that all participants come to the sessions solution-oriented and ready for discussion. Your voice will help shape the future of student life at IMSA!

Class of 2025 Graduation Reminders

Hey Class of 25! Please remember to be vigilant in logging your service learning hours into Helper Helper and then following up to make sure they are fully approved. Data transfers and email blasts will be sent out monthly until graduation. Those looking for external hours, be on the lookout for emails regarding reinstating weekly external service learning opportunities on Wednesday’s for the second semester. As a reminder, students that do not complete the graduation requirement for service learning, as stated here, will not receive their final transcripts until they have done so.

All hours must be submitted and fully approved (present in PowerSchool) by May 19th, 2025.

Still Have Pending Helper Helper Submissions?

Having trouble getting your Helper Helper hours approved? Students are responsible for completing the submission process. Use the checklist below to identify possible issues with your submission.

  • Coordinator Approval:
  • Your coordinator may not have approved your submission yet OR you have an immediate family member listed
  • To ensure approval, double-check the coordinator’s email and let them know to expect the request.
  • IMSA staff emails are frequently flagged, but they will still receive the request if the email is correct. If concerned, check with the staff member directly.
  • Incomplete Reflections:
  • Reflections must be fully completed to receive final approval.
  • The first question requires at least 2-3 sentences—this is not optional.
  • Even if you serve at the same location regularly, take the time to reflect meaningfully on each experience.
  • Incorrect Photo Submissions:
  • Your submitted photo must reflect your actual service.
  • Placeholder images used just to submit reflections will not be accepted, causing delays in approval.

Service Learning Reminders:

What Counts as Service?

See below for a reminders of guidelines for service learning at IMSA:

  • Service must be for a non-profit organization.
  • Students may not receive payment, class credit, or internship credit for their work.
  • The coordinator may not be a member of the student’s immediate family.
  • The coordinator may not be an IMSA student

Note that submissions that directly violate theses guidelines will not be approved.

Have questions about the documentation process? Find support, explore service opportunities, and track student body service progress here!

Service Learning Weekly Opportunities

Be on the lookout for second semester service learning opportunities! Opportunities will be posted on Helper Helper with an email notification to students. Class of 25 will receive first priority for these opportunities, and Class of 26/27 students may be removed to accommodate our seniors if necessary.
