The High Cost of Justin Trudeau’s Virtue Signalling
on Public Safety

Human beings must feel safe physically and emotionally before we can meet our higher needs of love, community and belonging.

Effective politicians know this and use it to further their agendas – even when those agendas have nothing to do with their stated aims.

For example, Public Safety is the bell Justin Trudeau rings to sell “gun control” to an uninformed public.

Trudeau proclaims that confiscating firearms from licensed gun owners will “keep Canadians safe” from drug dealers, gangs and other violent criminals.

It’s an effective psychological misdirect that resonates deeply with the fears of uninformed Canadians and earns Trudeau votes.

Collectively, we’re terrified by the violence that headlines news reports almost daily.

We want to feel safe so badly we’re willing to believe anything, no matter how absurd, to maintain that false narrative in our minds.

The evidence of Justin Trudeau’s failure to protect us is all around us.

On December 5, 2021, Toronto Police announced that Syed Mohammed Ali Zaidi, along with Michael Simpson, Syeda Tirmizi and Shaheen Abdul, were arrested, the result of a year-long firearms trafficking investigation begun in 2021.[i]

Police seized 62 illegal firearms, ammunition and other “proceeds of crime” from these individuals.

Syed Zaidi, a career criminal who continues to threaten the lives and safety of ordinary Canadians, is the latest high-profile evidence of Justin Trudeau’s failure.

  • In 2015, Zaidi murdered Arif Patel, for which Zaidi was sentenced to just seven and a half years in prison. Originally charged with second-degree murder, a plea deal on a lesser charge of manslaughter resulted in this short sentence.[ii]

  • In October 2021, Zaidi was arrested for a shooting inside Toronto’s Bar Karma, a crime for which he is still awaiting trial.

  • On December 5, Syed Zaidi and five others were arrested charged with 260 gun smuggling and illegal firearm possession offences. Zaidi was also charged with multiple counts of violating existing Firearms Prohibition Orders.

“So, how on earth does someone get to kill a friend in a brazen shootout in a strip mall and get just 7 1/2 years?” asked Brian Lilley. Because “Canada’s justice system isn’t really about justice, it’s about process.”[iii]

Justin Trudeau will tell you with all sincerity that criminals like Syed Zaidi are the reason his government introduced Bill C-21, the recent handgun freeze and the impending confiscation of 1,500 makes and models of so-called “assault-style weapons” from licensed Canadian firearm owners.
Trudeau, Bill Blair and Marco Mendicino routinely remind us that “banning these firearms will save Canadian lives.”[iv]

Justin Trudeau, Bill Blair and Marco Mendicino are making changes to sentencing laws to make it easier for violent criminals like Syed Mohammed Ali Zaidi to be released from jail.
They’re ignoring the actual threats to public safety – illegal guns smuggled into Canada by criminals like Syed Mohammed Ali Zaidi and his co-defendants.
Justin Trudeau, Bill Blair and Marco Mendicino are ignoring the source of the weapons that fuel drug dealer and gang shootings across this country.

And they continue to peddle those lies every time another career criminal is arrested for crimes that are not addressed by a single word of Bill C-21, by the recent handgun freeze or the impending confiscation of 1,500 makes and models of so-called “assault-style weapons” from licensed Canadian firearm owners.

Justin Trudeau doesn’t care about public safety.

Justin Trudeau cares about votes, and he’ll say anything to get them.

1301 COMP 12/24 SYN OCHP

The 1301 Comp is a competition semi-auto shotgun optimized for 3-gun matches and practical/tactical shooting. It brings together Beretta’s experience with sporting shotguns as well as the company’s tactical savvy.
Beretta 1301 Comp: Ready to Go for 3-Gun Matches, Practical Shooting

The Beretta 1301 Comp semi-auto shotgun is designed to win tactical competitions right out of the box. Combining the technology of Beretta’s best sporting shotguns with the requirements of the most demanding tactical shooters, it cycles faster than the competition, handles like a dream and has oversized controls for super-easy operation. It is available in two barrel lengths (21 and 24”) and its receiver is drilled and tapped for rail mounts, so that it can be equipped with optics or tactical aiming devices without any gunsmithing. And thanks to its Optimabore HP interchangeable choke system, it can also be adapted for other uses and will always perform like a Beretta.Lightning-Fast Shooting, Easy Operation

The 1301 Comp features Beretta’s proprietary Blink gas-operating system, which enables it to shoot 4 shots in less than 1 second – that is 36% faster than any other brand. But even with this tremendous advantage, Beretta’s engineers did not stop there. The controls are supersized so that the 1301 can be operated quickly and easily when seconds count: the cocking handle, bolt-release lever as well as the loading and ejection ports are oversized for simple and intuitive use under the heat of competition.

Ultra-Durable Steelium Barrel

The barrel of the 1301 Comp is made of Steelium, Beretta’s own steel blend designed to give premium performance even after tens of thousands of rounds. It features a stepped, wide sporting rib that minimizes mirage, and it has both a mid-bead and front fiberoptic sight for instinctive pointing under most lighting conditions. And thanks to the Optimabore HP choke system, the 1301 offers unmatched ballistic performance, with constant patterns regardless of load used.

Best-in-Class Tactical Stock

Having worked with military and police forces all around the world, Beretta offers you decades of experience building firearms that meet the strictest demands of professional shooters. The 1301 embodies this experience, with its short stock with aggressive non-slip checkering for positive handling under the stress of competition. Also, the length of pull is user-adjustable so that this shotgun will give you the best fit and the most natural pointing regardless of your shooting style, the thickness of clothing or body size.

BREAKING NEWS...BREAKING NEWS...BREAKING NEWS

By Staff | Blacklock's Reporter | December 14, 2022
A cabinet bill to restrict hunting rifles faces months-long delays that will drag into next spring. Opposition MPs yesterday voted 6 to 5 to block attempts to rush the bill through the Commons public safety committee.

“We are out of time,” said Liberal MP Ron McKinnon (Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam, B.C.), chair of the committee. “This is the Wild West we’re in right now,” added McKinnon.

Conservative, Bloc Québécois and New Democrat MPs proposed eight public hearings on the bill. An opposition motion suggested the committee travel “across Canada as soon as possible to rural, northern and Indigenous communities to hear from impacted individuals.”

Chair McKinnon noted cross-country hearings would delay consideration of the bill until the start of the next fiscal year beginning April 1, 2023. “As a practical matter we probably can’t travel until at least April,” said McKinnon.

Bill C-21 An Act To Amend Certain Acts was introduced in the Commons last May 30. It proposed to ban new sales of licensed handguns in Canada.

Cabinet subsequently issued an August 19 executive order banning legal imports of handguns under the Export And Import Permits Act, the same law used to restrict imports of Wisconsin cheese. A second November 9 order under the Firearms Act banned domestic handgun sales.

Liberal MPs in the public safety committee subsequently introduced November 24 amendments to the unfinished Bill C-21 to ban use of “a firearm that is a rifle or shotgun that is capable of discharging centre fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner.” Cabinet also attempted to attached to the bill a lengthy schedule of prohibited guns by make and model.

“I do think it’s offensive,” Conservative MP Raquel Dancho (Kildonan-St. Paul, Man.) yesterday told the committee. The proposed amendments were so broad they would ban lever action rifles, “obviously classic hunting rifles,” said Dancho.

“We’re talking classic wood stock hunting rifles that are being used that will be banned by this,” said Dancho. “That’s really the problem we’re coming down to. I don’t necessarily see a path forward.”

New Democrat MP Alistair MacGregor (Cowichan-Malahat, B.C.) said initial support for Bill C-21 had evaporated due to cabinet’s amendment to broaden its scope. “Some members of my caucus had not received one single piece of correspondence until this amendment dropped and now it’s making up half their correspondence,” said MacGregor.

“In politics as in life trust is easily broken but it’s extremely hard to repair,” said MacGregor. “The way this amendment landed has frankly been a complete and total abuse of process.”

Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed (Vancouver Granville) said the bill now appeared stalled for months. “Because we decided to go on trips we’re going to hold this legislation back until April at the earliest?” said Noormohamed.

“The idea we would now sit, effectively unable to move this legislation forward, at the very least until we return from whatever travel in April and then try to spend three weeks trying to do this, to me I just don’t understand,” said Noormohamed.

If you don’t know the answer, you really need to find out, because some insurance companies refuse to insure you or severely limit your coverage when you own guns.

GunGuard, developed in partnership with Capri Insurance, is stand-alone firearm insurance available EXCLUSIVELY through the CSSA.

Get peace of mind with a $25,000 coverage limit for just $60 per year and, most importantly, you don’t need to give them a list of your guns. Double your coverage for just $90 per year and get even more if you need it!

NEW OPTIONS

Firearm Legal Defence has also introduced some new options that can be added to your policy at renewal. Many of our clients have been asking for these and we've heard you!

Firearm Legal Defence Plus ($195/year total)
Increase your per-claim limited to $1,000,000.

Family Coverage (+$40/year)
Extend your coverage to your spouse and all dependent children living at home under the age of 25 (all participating family members must have their PAL). This is not a per-person amount! $40 covers everyone.

NEW COVERAGES

Personal Injury
If you're injured by someone else using a firearm or bow, we'll provide you access to a lawyer and cover legal costs.

Extension to Bows
Your coverage now extends to bows, including crossbows, recurve, compound and longbows.

You are not required to disclose any information about firearms in your possession.

Firearm Legal Defence insurance covers:
  • Defence from prosecution should you be charged with an offence arising out of the use, storage, display, transportation or handling of a firearm;
  • Cases where a firearm is used in self-defence, the defence of a person under your protection or the defence of your property;
  • Appealing an event where a licensing, regulatory or judicial authority refuses to renew, suspends, revokes, cancels or alters the terms of your firearms licence. Note that this provision does not apply to new licence applications.

Firearm Legal Defence pays for:
  • The cost of retaining a lawyer or other appointed representative, including court fees, experts; fees, police reports and medical reports;
  • Costs awarded by the court to opponents in civil cases if the insured person has been ordered to pay them, or pays them with the agreement of the insurance company;
  • Lost salary or wages for the time the insured is off work to attend court or any other hearing at the request of the appointed representative, up to a maximum of $500 per day and $10,000 in total.

NOTE: Firearm Legal Defence is not a CSSA product, but it is highly recommended by the association and is used by our staff and directors.
