Top Cops Testify Trudeau’s Handgun Ban is Misguided and Useless
Bill C-21 and the national handgun freeze recently imposed by the Trudeau government is misguided at best and useless at worst, according to both the government’s own documents and police experts across Canada.
So why does the Trudeau government insist on wasting taxpayer dollars on a gun ban that cannot solve the problem of drug dealers and gang violence?
Is it because Trudeau and company are complete and utter morons?
Is it because Trudeau’s merry band of fools have little interest in actually stopping the flow of illegal guns into the hands of Canada’s criminal underclass?
Or is it because their agenda is entirely political, focused on pandering for votes from uninformed Canadians?
The government’s own published statements tell the tale, as do police subject-matter experts from across Canada.

Sir, as a handgun owner, I am concerned about the loss of my property and the stress that will be placed on my family at the time of my death. It was my understanding that prior to this government - following my death - my executor would assume my firearm licences and would take control of my estate, including all firearms. He would sell off the estate and divide the assets among my heirs.
Does that not mean that the guns have not been transferred to a new owner and so, cannot be seized by the government?
The executor would have to hold on to the guns until a responsible government was in place and this assault on inherency law was removed.

A federal handgun sales ban will not “meaningfully” reduce gun crime, the RCMP union and Regina’s police chief testified at the Commons public safety committee. Federal authorities have sought to enforce a ban through cabinet order.
“Firearms will continue to make their way into Canada,” testified Brian Sauvé, president of the National Police Federation representing unionized Mounties. A sales ban will “not address issues of organized crime nor gang violence, illegal weapon smuggling, systemic causes of crime or emerging threats,” added Sauvé.
Bill C-21 An Act To Amend Certain Acts proposes to outlaw legal handgun sales. “Bill C-21 narrowly focuses on the tool or the firearm and not the criminal activity surrounding it,” said Sauvé. “By only addressing the tool you are failing to address the root problem.”
Cabinet has sought to enforce a ban by executive order. The Department of Foreign Affairs last August 19 banned legal handgun imports under the Export And Import Permits Act. “Given that nearly all our handguns are imported this means we are bringing our national handgun freeze into effect even sooner,” Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino said at the time.
The Prime Minister effective November 9 also seeks to ban sales under the Firearms Act section 17. Canadians legally own some 1.1 million licensed handguns, by official estimate. There is no federal count on the number of smuggled handguns.
“Restricting lawful handgun ownership will not meaningfully address the real issue which is illegal firearms and illegal handguns obtained from the United States that have led to the disturbing current trend in gun violence that is largely related to gangs, street gangs and more sophisticated organized criminal groups,” Chief Evan Bray of the Regina Police Service testified at the public safety committee.
“Does that really improve public safety?” asked Conservative MP Glen Motz (Medicine Hat-Cardston, Alta.). “We do a good job now in trying to restrict firearms and access to firearms to those who are licensed and legally liable to possess them,” replied Chief Bray. “I think we have to focus and consider the fact law-abiding firearm owners are predominantly not the problem.”
“Predominantly they are not the ones who are causing the issue,” said Bray, co-chair of the firearms committee at the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. “The issue is people who are criminals.”

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani ordered the closure of markets selling weapons as well as the confiscation of unlicensed guns in June.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has made progress in controlling illegal firearms and continues its efforts to reach a future with stricter measures on gun ownership across the Kurdistan Region, the KRG said on Saturday.
“The KRG, in cooperation with the private sector, is working on a joint project to set up a place for selling, repairing, and dealing with weapons under the supervision of the interior ministry,” Director General of Diwan at the Ministry of Interior, Hemin Mirany said on Friday.
The government has formed 40 gun registration committees in its efforts to strengthen gun laws and reduce the number of private guns. The groups consist of representatives of the police, the Asayish, and the Peshmerga forces, the KRG said.
Moreover, the Ministry of Interior has given gun owners one year to register their firearms, according to Mirany, which then leads to a "long process" to obtain a permit to carry the weapons.

Does anyone else in this country believe banning the importation and sale of handguns is going to make Canadians safer?
It must be wonderful to be so blissfully unaware of the facts pertaining to guns and crime.
Criminals don’t buy handguns at a gun store where they would be required to show ID and a firearms acquisition certificate. Criminals don’t give a damn about the law; that’s why they are called criminals.
Absolutely everything this government does is only about the optics. Nobody in Canada is safer with this ban in effect. Nobody.
At the same time, the federal Liberals are trying to eliminate mandatory minimum sentences for the use of a handgun during the commission of a crime.
I’m really unsure just whose side these “woke folk” are on.

NEW OPTIONS
Firearm Legal Defence has also introduced some new options that can be added to your policy at renewal. Many of our clients have been asking for these and we've heard you!
Firearm Legal Defence Plus ($195/year total)
Increase your per-claim limited to $1,000,000.
Family Coverage (+$40/year)
Extend your coverage to your spouse and all dependent children living at home under the age of 25 (all participating family members must have their PAL). This is not a per-person amount! $40 covers everyone.
NEW COVERAGES
Personal Injury
If you're injured by someone else using a firearm or bow, we'll provide you access to a lawyer and cover legal costs.
Extension to Bows
Your coverage now extends to bows, including crossbows, recurve, compound and longbows.
You are not required to disclose any information about firearms in your possession.
Firearm Legal Defence insurance covers:
- Defence from prosecution should you be charged with an offence arising out of the use, storage, display, transportation or handling of a firearm;
- Cases where a firearm is used in self-defence, the defence of a person under your protection or the defence of your property;
- Appealing an event where a licensing, regulatory or judicial authority refuses to renew, suspends, revokes, cancels or alters the terms of your firearms licence. Note that this provision does not apply to new licence applications.
Firearm Legal Defence pays for:
- The cost of retaining a lawyer or other appointed representative, including court fees, experts; fees, police reports and medical reports;
- Costs awarded by the court to opponents in civil cases if the insured person has been ordered to pay them, or pays them with the agreement of the insurance company;
- Lost salary or wages for the time the insured is off work to attend court or any other hearing at the request of the appointed representative, up to a maximum of $500 per day and $10,000 in total.
