RCMP Entraps Licensed Gun Owners

The RCMP entrapped thousands of licensed gun owners when they reclassified 354 formerly Non-Restricted and Restricted firearms as Prohibited without notifying anyone.[i] These were the firearms reclassified after May 6, 2020.

There is no requirement in law for the RCMP to notify gun owners of classification changes even though they put firearm owners in legal jeopardy – a problem we’ve long fought to change.

Seemingly, the RCMP’s reclassifications were performed under the guidance of Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and with the blessing of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The result of the RCMP’s bureaucratic malfeasance is thousands of licensed firearm owners now illegally possess Prohibited weapons in contravention of Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code[ii].

Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon or restricted weapon

91(2) … every person commits an offence who possesses a prohibited weapon…without being the holder of a licence under which the person may possess it.

Back on May 1st, 2020, the federal Liberal government of Justin Trudeau, operating under the guidance of Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and the RCMP, reclassified over 1,500 makes and models of firearms as “Prohibited.”

This massive gun ban included firearms that were Non-Restricted and Restricted on April 30th, 2020, and an amnesty was introduced to protect those owners from prosecution for possession under Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code.

Then on May 6th, 2020, the RCMP, presumably under the direction of Public Safety Minister Bill Blair, began reclassifying hundreds of Non-Restricted and Restricted firearms as Prohibited that were not on the May 1st list.

Owners of these arbitrarily reclassified Prohibited firearms are NOT protected by the May 1st amnesty order.

The government makes this clear in the text of SOR/2020-96. [iii]

The Order Declaring an Amnesty Period (2020) (the Amnesty Order) accompanies the Regulations to protect individuals, who were in lawful possession of one or more of the newly prohibited firearms or prohibited devices on the day the Regulations came into force, from criminal liability for unlawful possession for the purpose of allowing individuals to come into compliance with the law.

The amnesty order (SOR/2020-97[iv]) only protects owners of firearms specifically listed in the gun ban by Order in Council.

Words have meaning - "specific" means"clearly defined or identified" - something the RCMP's made-up "variant" is not. In fact, the recently released RCMP definition of what a "variant" is so vague and non-specific that it is laughable.

In other words, if your newly-prohibited firearm is not specifically listed in the OiC, you do not have the protection of the amnesty and you could be criminally charged for the mere possession of your own property.

Many thousands of gun owners are now at the mercy of the RCMP, Public Safety Bill Blair and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

What could possibly go wrong?

History of Deception

First, Justin Trudeau and Bill Blair reclassify over 1,500 makes and models of firearms as Prohibited and destroy the value of millions of dollars of legally-owned property to advance their political agenda.

Then the RCMP reclassified 354 firearms (and counting) as Prohibited, knowing full well that the thousands of licensed firearm owners who possess these firearms have no legal protection from criminal charges.

This is how the RCMP, Bill Blair and Justin Trudeau keep Canadians safe? By sacrificing those who obey all laws and follow every regulation to the letter?

Are the owners of these newly prohibited (and non-amnestied) firearms going to face criminal charges if they try to turn the firearms in to the authorities?

This once again illustrates the total lack of respect for licensed RCMP-vetted firearm owners displayed since Bill Blair and Justin Trudeau took office.

This can’t possibly end well for our community.

Liberals’ plan to ban assault rifles sped up after mass shooting, court case reveals

Tim Naumetz | iPolitics.ca | December 14, 2020

A new government method of providing insight into Ottawa’s ban on assault rifles while maintaining cabinet confidence indicates that top-level planning for the prohibition began in March.

But the content of a government defence of its response to requests for documents at a Federal Court challenge of the ban, which took effect on May 1, also suggests the pace of planning increased suddenly in April — when a lone gunman killed 22 people in a shooting and arson rampage in central Nova Scotia.

During the same period, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his top ministers were on the edge of another crisis, as reported cases of COVID-19 in Canada spiked from zero in early February to 2,000 by mid-April.
Arrests in southeast Saskatchewan among CBSA highlights for 2020

Estevan Mercury | December 10, 2020

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Prairie Region has released operational and enforcement highlights that demonstrate how CBSA employees throughout the region have worked to safeguard communities while supporting the economy during these unprecedented times.

The 2020 operational and enforcement highlights cover Jan. 1 to Oct. 30.

The CBSA established a regional firearms working group to concentrate its efforts on keeping illegal guns off Prairie streets. Undeclared firearms and weapons are high-risk commodities and their interdiction is a CBSA enforcement priority.

How Toronto can rethink its fight against near-record gun violence — with or without defunding police

Betsy Powell | The Star | December 13, 2020

You might assume a former Toronto gang leader would embrace the movement to defund police kickstarted by George Floyd’s agonizing death beneath an officer’s knee.

Not so.

“Defunding police is ridiculous,” especially with rising gun violence in Toronto and the GTA, says Marcell Wilson, founder of One By One, an organization of former criminals dedicated to creating safer communities.
New rifles delivered for Canadian Forces sniper teams

David Pugliese | Ottawa Citizen | December 9, 2020

New semi-automatic weapons for sniper teams have been delivered to the Canadian Forces and testing has begun on the rifles.

“The initial delivery for the new C20 7.62 mm Semi-Automatic Sniper Weapons occurred in November as planned,” Department of National Defence spokeswoman Andrée-Anne Poulin confirmed to this newspaper.
“With the delivery of these first systems, we began the training activities for the weapons technicians and snipers as well as the final technical testing which will be completed by the end of this month.”

The remaining C20 deliveries will commence and be completed in the new year, she added.

The rifles were manufactured by Colt Canada and will be used by sniper teams as an auxiliary weapon.

The 272 rifles and spare parts will cost $8.5 million.

The federal government initially awarded a $2-million contract to Colt Canada in Kitchener on February 28 to establish the production line to produce the C20 weapon. That contract also included an initial delivery of 10 of the C20 rifles. That early production run was to ensure Colt had the technical proficiency to deliver the new weapon, added Poulin.
Liberal Firearm Confiscation Scheme Proves Deadly for Temp Agency

Christopher di Armani | christopherdiarmani.com | December 9, 2020

Public Safety Minister Bill Blair keeps stepping in steaming piles of dog poo with his proposed Firearm Confiscation Compensation Scheme.

Minister Blair is 0-3 at finding a scapegoat for seizing and destroying legal firearms from licensed, RCMP-vetted firearm owners.

Conversely, Minister Blair is 3-0 at leaving illegal guns in the hands of drug dealers, gangs and other violent criminals.

It doesn’t have to make sense. It’s government policy.

First, Minister Blair issued a tender and listed 15 companies he wanted to apply. They declined his offer.

Then he issued a private Request For Proposal (RFP) but did so in secret. CSSA found out about it and published the private RFP, much to Minister Blair’s chagrin, I’m sure.

Yesterday we learned that three companies were asked to respond to the RFP. Only one of them did but but this news was kept hidden from the public.

While that process played out in the background, Minister Blair issued a second tender and listed 15 more companies he wanted to apply. As with the first tender, every single one of the them declined the Minister’s offer of tens of millions of dollars in free government money.

Liberals Aim to Confiscate 150,000 Rifles and Shotguns, They Tell Stubbs - Ministry of Public Safety also told Conservative MP Shannon Stubbs the RCMP paid more than $2.5 million to print and post confiscation notices.

TheGunBlog.com | December 8, 2020

TheGunBlog.ca — Canada’s governing Liberal Party told an opposition MP last week it expects to confiscate about 150,000 rifles and shotguns from hunters, farmers, sport shooters and businesses under its May 1 political attacks.

Liberal Member of Parliament Joël Lightbound also told Conservative MP Shannon Stubbs that the RCMP, the Liberal crackdown enforcer, spent more than $2.5 million to print and post confiscation warnings to the country’s 2.2 million federally licensed firearm users and 4,500 businesses.

"As the Chair of the Alberta Firearms Advisory Committee, I had the honour of consulting with thousands of Albertans about Trudeau's gun ban. Albertans voiced their opinions loud and clear: the federal gun grab was never about public safety and it infringed on their property rights.

Alberta's lawful firearms ownership is well documented and a distinct part of our way of life. Alberta's lawful gun owners deserve to be respected, and I'm proud to be part of a government that's doing just that."
Hardwood Ski and Bike on target to open biathlon facility

'We’re excited to bring a higher level of sport to this area of Ontario and expand our programs,' says program manager

Kathy Hunt | OrilliaMatters.com | December 10, 2020

For those who would like to try a new winter sport, or be able to train at a high-performance centre close to home, Hardwood Ski and Bike has some good news to share.

The local outdoor adventure centre is about to launch a new facility that will support a growing interest in the challenging sport of biathlon.

Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport that combines cross-country ski racing and marksmanship. It’s a challenging sport because racing requires intense physical exertion, while shooting demands extremely fine control and stability.

Over the past few years, Hardwood Ski and Bike has offered recreational and competitive biathlon programs, but without the advantage of having a proper shooting range. In fact, up until recently, there has not been a dedicated shooting facility for biathlon training in Ontario. Competitive athletes would typically travel to other provinces for high-performance training and competition.

Now, after three years of planning and development, Hardwood is in the final stages of opening its biathlon shooting range, something Hardwood’s program manager, Arienne Strong, is excited about.

Watch: Steven Crowder Saves Christmas For Boy Shamed By Woke Santa Over NERF Gun

Emily Zanotti | DailyWire.com | December 8, 2020

Radio host Steven Crowder came to the rescue of a young boy named Michael who, as The Daily Wire reported earlier Tuesday, was left in tears after a woke shopping mall “Santa Claus” decided to give him a lecture about guns instead of a holiday treat.

Little Michael was making a socially distant visit to an Illinois mall Santa when he mentioned he wanted a NERF (Non-Expanding Recreational Foam) gun for Christmas. The Santa told Michael that the gift was inappropriate, excoriating the young boy for asking for a toy weapon: “Nope. No guns. Not even a Nerf gun.”

Santa then explained that the boy’s parents could buy him a NERF gun for Christmas, but that Santa doesn’t deal in plastic weapons.

The video of the incident shows the Santa asking the boy, “What do you want for Christmas?

When the boy hesitates, the Santa presses, “You don’t know?”

The boy apparently asked for a Nerf (Non-Expanding Recreational Foam) gun, according to his mother.

The Santa then pronounces, “Nope. No guns.”

The mother intercedes. “Nerf gun,” she explains.

The Santa, determined, continues, “Not even a Nerf gun.”

The Santa eventually tells the boy, “If your dad wants to get it for you that’s fine but I can’t bring it to you, so what else would you like? Lots of other toys, there’s Legos, there’s bicycles, there’s cars and trucks.”

New information suggests N.S. killer had 'tremendous fire power' and other possible targets

Heidi Petracek | CTV News | December 9, 2020 (Updated December 10)

HALIFAX -- New information released by court order now reveals the types of firearms the perpetrator of Canada's worst mass murder had with him when he was shot and killed by RCMP after his 13-hour killing rampage.

On the night of April 18, the killer set fire to several homes and killed 13 people in Portapique, N.S., before evading police later that night. Gabriel Wortman carried out his crimes while dressed as a Mountie and driving a vehicle made to look like an RCMP cruiser.

He went on to kill nine more people at locations throughout Colchester County the next morning. One of the victims was pregnant when she was shot and killed in her vehicle.

RCMP investigators had indicated earlier that the guns used by Wortman in the killings were obtained illegally.

On Wednesday, new details revealed in RCMP search warrant applications list the exact firearms found in the vehicle he was using shortly before he was killed by police at the Irving Big Stop gas station in Enfield, N.S., on April 19.

Those details confirm the guns were illegally obtained in both Canada and the United States.

A lot people opted out: Parry Sound Hunters and Anglers Association member

Sarah Cooke | Parry Sound North Star | December 2, 2020

Parry Sound-Almaguin hunters say they feel targeted by a federal firearm ban that came into effect in May, but they don’t believe it influenced the recent hunting season.

Bruce Hatt, a member of the Parry Sound Hunters and Anglers Association, said that the association supports safe hunting, gun handling and shooting sports.

“The regulations that are out (now), do not do anything for safe hunting, they do not do anything for crime — they do not do anything for anybody, honestly,” said Hatt. “The guns they’re banning are as dangerous as the people that are using them.”

On May 1, 2020, the federal government prohibited nine types of “assault-style” firearms as well as placed new restrictions on muzzle energy, which determines the damage a bullet can do, and the bore diameter, which is the calibre of gun.

“If you’re a safe gun handler, there’s no reason those guns should be banned — there’s no justification for it,” he said.

PM vows movement on firearms as MPs give tribute to women killed in Montreal massacre

Tim Naumetz | iPolitics.ca | December 3, 2020

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday promised legislation to complete Liberal measures against growing gun violence in Canada, as MPs from all parties delivered memorials for 14 women killed in a rifle attack at Montreal’s Polytechnique engineering school two decades ago.

In a House of Commons tribute to the students slain by a lone gunman who rampaged inside the engineering college on Dec. 6, 1989, Trudeau also turned his speech to resistance among Canadian gun o
wners to a sweeping Liberal ban on assault-style rifles and other firearms across the country.

“It is our duty to never forget the misogynistic, anti-feminist nature of this attack that struck Montreal, Quebec and the entire country, that struck us at the very heart of our values,” said Trudeau.
“These women and girls, women and girls of Canada, and everywhere in the world, should never have to fear succeeding, being ambitious or fighting for a better future,” he added. “Gender equality is non-negotiable, today and forever.”

New Zealand’s Ardern apologizes as report into mosque attack faults focus on Islamist terror risks

Praveen Menon (Reuters) | The Globe and Mail | December 8, 2020

New Zealand security agencies were “almost exclusively” focused on the perceived threat of Islamist terrorism before a white supremacist gunman killed 51 Muslim worshippers last year, a report into the country’s worst massacre found.

The Royal Commission of Inquiry also criticized police for failing to enforce proper checks when granting a firearms license to Australian gunman Brenton Tarrant, who released a racist manifesto shortly before the attack and streamed the shootings live on Facebook.

But despite the shortcomings, the report found no failings within government agencies that would have prevented the attack at two mosques in Christchurch on March 15, 2019.

“The commission made no findings that these issues would have stopped the attack. But these were both failings and for that I apologize,” Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said after the report was released.

Tarrant was sentenced to life in prison without parole in August for the attack, which left dozens injured.

Ardern received global praise for her compassionate response to the attack and for swiftly banning the sale of the high-capacity semi-automatic weapons Tarrant used. She also launched a global movement against online extremism.

However, authorities were criticized for ignoring repeated warnings from the Muslim community that hate crimes against them were escalating.
The 800-page report said there was an “inappropriate concentration of resources” on the threat of Islamist extremist terrorism.

Austria seizes guns destined for German right-wing militia

Far-right extremists planned to set up an armed militia in the southern German state of Bavaria, Austrian investigators say. The weapons seized included Kalashnikovs and Uzis.

dw.com | December 12, 2020

Austrian police have seized dozens of weapons and 100,000 rounds of ammunition that were partly destined for building up an extremist far-right militia in Germany, Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer announced on Saturday.

Authorities found 76 semi-automatic and automatic weapons, 14 handguns, more than 100,000 rounds of various calibers, as well as six hand grenades and various types of explosives during raids this week.
The Kurier newspaper reported that the weapons included Kalashnikovs, Skorpions and Uzis.

Vienna's police chief Gerhard Pürstl described the haul as the largest in decades and said the weapons were to be used to set up an armed extremist group in the southern German state of Bavaria.

Everytown Encourages Biden to Pursue Unlawful Executive Gun Controls

NRAHQ | Ammoland.com | December 14, 2020

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- According to the December 10 report from the New York Times, Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun organization Everytown for Gun Safety is pushing Joe Biden to enact a raft of gun control by executive fiat. As much as Everytown and their would-be autocrat benefactor might wish, the U.S. Presidency is not a dictatorship. The executive actions Everytown contemplates implicate the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners and are not moored in a credible reading of federal statute.

The article noted that the group has targeted three areas for executive action. Everytown is urging Biden to further restrict the private transfer of firearms between non-dealers, force Federal Firearms Licensees (gun dealers or FFLs) to notify the FBI whenever they complete a firearms transfer following the FBI’s failure to complete a background check within three days, and further regulate unfinished firearm frames and receivers – sometimes referred to as 80 percent frames or receivers.

Failed Gun Control Lessons From the Firearms Black Market

Alan J Chwick and Joanne D Eisen | Ammoland Inc. | December 11, 2020

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- While our country has been trapped in a political-election-nightmare, one thing has remained the same, Democrats want more gun-control laws. And Republicans will eventually, reluctantly, cave to the hysterical demand to “do something.”

Anne Stave, a reporter with the Columbus Dispatch, reminded her readers of the anniversary of the mass murder outside the Ned Pepper's Bar in Dayton. In August of 2019, an assailant murdered 9 people and wounded 27 people in 32 seconds. In August of 2020, she complained, “Ohio laws haven't changed a bit.”

Sheila Blanchard, the aunt of a victim, explains the “do something” side of America's gun debate. She said, “Sometimes I don't understand why they can't feel the pain we feel, because if they did – just for 60 seconds – there wouldn't be any gun safety bills dying on their desks while people continue to die in the streets.”

Under the pressure of these unbearable losses, Ohio Governor Mike De Wine (R), said, “We owe it to the victims. We owe it to the families and to all Ohioans to finish the job and get this done.”

Gun owners are not unfeeling of the ‘pain' that victims' families feel, as many have also felt pain. They do accept the implication that we must ‘do something, do anything,' though we do know that most laws, and such, will be ineffective. We grit our teeth and accept a new law or rule that throws us farther down that slippery slope, to a disarmed society. And the gun controllers cheer their little victory.
