Dear Advocates,

September is Recovery Month!

Mental Health America of Indiana joins our colleagues around the state to promote Recovery in Hoosier communities with a message that substance use and mental health services can enable those with behavioral health condis to live healthy and fulfilling lives. This year, we are celebrating the 31st annual "Recovery Month" with the theme of Celebrating Connections, which as you know, is fitting for this moment in history. During the Pandemic, Mental Health America of Indiana has been working with the behavioral health community in Indiana to do just that, connect. MHAI is helping to connect clients with peers and clinicians as we have launched:
  • the Indiana Recovery Hubs;
  • MHAI's new partnership with Indiana 211, the Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program;
  • new training opportunities for behavioral health peers and clinicians through the Stanley W DeKemper Training Institute; and of course,
  • increased use of tele-health services through the Emberwood Treatment Center.

Mental Health America of Indiana has significantly expanded Hoosiers’ ability to connect during this time when isolation has become a new way of life. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly shed light on an unmet behavioral health crisis accompanied by a wave of underlying systemic racism due in part to social determinants of health. MHAI has, with others, attempted to face these challenges, as we have attempted to navigate this uncharted territory. We invite you to collaborate with us to continue to make strides forward. We do so by validating the effectiveness of peer recovery support services and access to clinical behavioral health treatment. We must continue to influence key stakeholders to assemble and implement effective behavioral health support services.

Celebrating connections can feel challenging when the new world view must be that physical distance will save lives during a global pandemic. With your help, individuals facing mental health and substance use disorder will receive connectivity to the resources they need to live a life in recovery. Please join me in celebrating Recovery Month as we did by turning Monument Circle purple! [See below].

Stress, anxiety, grief, depression, suicide and addiction are affecting many Hoosiers across the state. There has never been a more pertinent moment in time to help Hoosiers living with mental health conditions and addictive disorders than now. The funds provided from these sponsorship opportunities are used to advocate for the rights of people with mental and addictive disorders and to educate the general public about mental health and mental wellness. MHAI is Indiana’s voice to remove the mask of stigma from people impacted by mental health and addictive disorders. In addition to its advocacy and public education role, MHAI establishes prevention programs throughout the state.

We would like to collaborate with you and tailor your support to fit your needs.  Please see the attached annual sponsorship package to partner with Mental Health America in Indiana for the entire year, including sponsorship at three MHAI signature events, digital media recognition, and more!

Looking for mental health or substance use care during the COVID-19 Pandemic?
Don't worry, we have your back!
EmberWood Center is providing mental health and substance use therapy to new and existing clients on home computers, tablets, and phones.
In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic and following guidelines of CDC, the Governor of Indiana, and the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions, the EmberWood Center has established a new protocol for treating our clients. In-person direct services have been suspended until further notice from the CDC, and tele-therapy will be offered instead. Clients can participate via their phones, tablets, or computers and they will be contacted with instructions by their counselors.
Please, be patient with us as we are navigating this new method of services provision and we are prioritizing our higher-need clients. Our staff is checking voicemails and will return calls as we receive them.
Please, opt for contacting with any questions or requests for services. Also follow the EmberWood Facebook Page for more updates on tele-health services. Thank you!
