INCOMPAS to Host Nov. 12 Webinar on Election Impact

This Thursday, November 12, at 3 p.m. ET, INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering, a former Member of Congress from Mississippi, will host a free webinar offering a look at the impact of the 2020 election on tech and broadband policy.

INCOMPAS Board Elections: Call for Nominations

INCOMPAS is accepting nominations for its Board of Directors. To be eligible to run for the board, Service Provider member companies must be in good standing and run for an opening in their designated voting category (small, medium or large).

Voting member companies (Service Providers) may nominate themselves or other member companies within their voting category to be candidates. All nominations should indicate the company and the name of the company representative.

Nominations must be submitted before close of business on Monday, November 16, 2020.

The slate of candidates will be announced on November 17. Voting will be permitted electronically in advance of the annual meeting and virtually at the meeting. Newly elected Board members will serve a two-year term beginning December 2020.

The election results will be announced during the annual meeting on November 30 at 4 p.m. ET.

Connected Care Pilot Program Application Window Now Open

The FCC Wireline Competition Bureau announced that the Connected Care pilot program application filing window is now open and will close on December 7, 2020. The bureau also provided additional guidance concerning the application submission process for the program, prerequisites for the submission of an application, and services eligible for support under the program requirements.

The program will make available up to $100 million over a three-year period for selected pilot projects for qualifying purchases necessary to provide connected care services.

Senators Urge Utilities to Suspend Shutoffs Throughout Pandemic

Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), et al. sent letters to the nation’s largest utility companies, including Duke Energy, Southern Company, Comcast, AT&T and Verizon, urging them to suspend all utility shutoffs for the duration of the pandemic. They said because of the economic devastation from the pandemic, millions of Americans are at risk for having their electricity, water and broadband services terminated.

Senate Commerce Committee to Hold FCC Nomination Hearing for Nathan Simington on November 10

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, will convene a nominations hearing at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, which will include the nomination of Nathan Simington to replace FCC Commissioner Michael O'Rielly.
