Zayo CEO Sowmyanarayan Sampath to Keynote INCOMPAS Show

Sowmyanarayan Sampath, CEO of Zayo Group, will deliver a keynote address at The 2026 INCOMPAS Show in Nashville on Monday, November 2 at 8:45 a.m.

“Few leaders understand the scale and urgency of today’s infrastructure buildout like Sowmyanarayan Sampath,” said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. “Over more than two decades, he has led some of the largest and most complex businesses in our industry, from Verizon’s Consumer and Business groups to now Zayo, North America’s leading digital infrastructure provider. As AI and cloud computing push demand for fiber, data centers and next-generation networks to new heights, his insight into how operators and investors should navigate this moment is invaluable. We are honored to welcome Sowmyanarayan to the INCOMPAS Show stage and know our audience will benefit greatly from his perspective."

In addition to Sampath's keynote, the show will feature morning panel discussions with top industry executives, afternoon policy and marketing workshops, the Buyers Forum for speed meetings with buyers from leading service providers, networking events every day, and opportunities to meet and do business with new and existing partners.

FCC Releases October Agenda

The FCC issued a tentative agenda for its October 29 open meeting, where it will consider:

  • Implementing the Rural Broadband Protection Act – An NPRM on proposals for implementing the May 2026 Rural Broadband Protection Act, that would direct the FCC to initiate a rulemaking proceeding to establish a vetting process for recipients of certain new high-cost funding awards, and on proposals for implementing penalties when a carrier commits to provide broadband with high-cost funding and then defaults before funding is authorized.
  • Auctioning Off 25 Megahertz of Prime, Mid-Band Spectrum – An FNPRM that would unlock 25 megahertz of prime midband spectrum in the 1675–1695 MHz and 2020–2025 MHz bands for advanced commercial communications services, including terrestrial, direct-to-device or a hybrid of both.
  • Modernizing the Supplemental Coverage from Space Rules – An NPRM that would modernize its rules for direct-to-device services in licensed spectrum, and propose to make an additional 482 megahertz of spectrum available for supplemental coverage from space, eliminate burdensome SCS requirements, and consider measures to modernize and harmonize the SCS and the mobile satellite service rules.
  • Unlocking the 800 MHz Cellular Band for Drone Use – A report and order that would eliminate an outdated restriction that prevents drone operations in the 800 MHz cellular band, and would unlock 50 megahertz of licensed, nationwide, low-band spectrum for drone use.
  • Prohibiting Test Labs and Certification Bodies in Non-Reciprocal Countries – A third report and order and third FNPRM that would strengthen the integrity, security and resiliency of the FCC’s equipment authorization program by prohibiting the recognition of test labs, telecommunications certification bodies and laboratory accreditation bodies located in nonreciprocal economies, and seeks comment on a range of additional equipment authorization integrity measures.
  • Strengthening the Security of U.S. Telecommunications Services and Infrastructure – A report and order and FNPRM that would modernize its international Section 214 framework to strengthen protections for U.S. telecommunications services and infrastructure, while reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens.
  • Eliminating Accessibility Barriers – An NPRM that would modernize its accessibility rules to keep pace with the rapidly changing communications landscape, promote innovation, better match consumer expectations and remove barriers to accessibility.

Winning the Mid-Market:

Why Hyper Local Market and Performance Data is the Key

By Fiona Armstrong-Mills

Competition in the broadband industry is accelerating. Incumbents are expanding their fiber footprint. Fixed wireless access and LEO satellite internet are growing fast. Mid-market operators need to make up-to-the-minute decisions to win and keep subscribers.

Defending existing customers is critical. Acquiring new customers can cost 5x to 25x more than retaining an existing one. And a subscriber lost to an undetected weak spot represents years of revenue off their lifetime value. Opensignal’s survey data shows that when subscribers churn, price is the top reason, followed by network quality.

But more powerful than that is being able to see where and when subscribers’ experience falls short. Knowing this ahead of time allows ISPs to intervene. That’s why Opensignal’s data combines market intelligence, network performance and pricing data. With this, ISPs can understand both their own vulnerabilities, and those of their competitors’. It drives cost-effective decision making: where to invest in networks, which areas to micro-target with advertising, and how to respond when a new entrant shows up.

Without it, ISPs won’t just miss out on new opportunities, but may not even see the storm clouds before another customer appears on their churn reports. Talk with us more at The 2026 INCOMPAS Show in Nashville, booth K6.
