FCC Issues National Security Advisory on Equipment, Services

The FCC issued a national security advisory, reiterating communications equipment and services on the FCC’s covered list have been determined to pose unacceptable risks to the national security of the U.S. The FCC recommended organizations and individuals currently using, or considering the purchase of, communications equipment and services review the covered list.

FCC's Trusty Discusses Wireless, Infrastructure at MWC

FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty spoke virtually at the Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas on October 15. Trusty discussed Chairman Carr’s Build America Agenda, noting the FCC recently voted to build on reforms launched under the first Trump administration to reduce state and local barriers to deployment and accelerate network buildout. She noted that the FCC is reviewing environmental timelines and historic preservation rules to make them more efficient, modernizing pole attachment processes, and making it easier to move projects from the planning phase to the construction phase.

Trusty also discussed the Delete, Delete, Delete initiative, which eliminates obsolete rules and unnecessary red tape that impose costs without benefits. Additionally, Trusty said her priorities are expanding universal connectivity and protecting consumers, strengthening the security and resilience of telecommunications networks, and restoring and advancing America’s leadership in next-generation communications.
