Firm to work on $57.2M interchange project
Portland's David Evans & Associates will begin construction in 2023. The project involves the complete realignment of the Interstate 90-state Route 41 interchange in Post Falls.
When finished, a portion of state Route 41 just off the freeway will be relocated to the west of its current location.

Avista Launches EV Infrastructure Plan
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission recently approved programs outlined in Avista's Transportation Electrification Plan. The plan includes a regional build-out for public, workplace and fleet charging infrastructure, incorporating charging equipment incentives with specific attention to load management and grid optimization. What to Expect and When

Since releasing the apportionment results in April, we’ve had several teams working hard on the next set of 2020 Census data — the redistricting data. These data play an important role in our democracy and will begin to illuminate the changes to the local and demographic makeup of our nation over the last decade.
These data include the first sub-state population counts and demographic characteristics from the census, information that states typically use for redistricting — the process of redrawing electoral district boundaries based on where their populations have increased or decreased.
Although redistricting is a state function, the U.S. Census Bureau performs an important role in the process — providing quality data to the states from the census that states may choose to use in redistricting. Read more here.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Jubilant HollisterStier announces $92M investment to expand sterile injectable manufacturing capacity at its site in Spokane, WA. The investment is being made to set up a high-speed 400 vials a minute injectable fill line with isolator technology, which will enhance the Spokane facility's capacity by 50%. The expansion will be spread over 50,000 square feet and will be commercially operational by the end of 2024. Read the full article here.
MOSCOW, Idaho — Emsi, a Moscow start-up and now industry leader, is merging with Burning Glass of Boston, MA, bringing together two premier, complementary sources of labor market data to provide insight into the changing workforce for clients including corporations, government agencies, and higher education institutions. The combined company will be called Emsi Burning Glass and will be led by Burning Glass CEO Matt Sigelman, with Andrew Crapuchettes, former CEO of Emsi, serving as a strategic advisor to the Board of Directors. Emsi’s recently built headquarters in Moscow, ID, will continue to be a major hub for the business, along with Burning Glass’ headquarters in Boston, MA. Read more here.
PULLMAN, Wash. — Alaska Airlines announced a new nonstop flights between Boise and Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport in Washington, and Boise and Phoenix. "Our new year-round route bridging Boise and Pullman-Moscow will offer a crucial link to that area's two major universities, and the seasonal nonstop to Phoenix is another terrific way to quickly escape to sunshine and warmth in the desert this winter." COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Continuous Composites, a developer of composite 3D printing technology, has been awarded a $750,000 Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the Department of Defense (DoD). The SBIR topic focuses on Attritable Structures, Engines, and Sensors of Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems and Space Systems. The contract is in collaboration with the Air Force Research Laboratory and the primary technical objectives of this contract are to fabricate an organically integrated wing spar and rib configuration into a single component, resulting in a unitized wing frame for the Low-Cost Attritable Aircraft Technology/Platform. POST FALLS, Idaho –Two urban renewal districts and a 371.54-acre annexation have been approved in the River City. Representatives from companies like Commercial Tire, Pilot Travel Centers LLC, Western Trailers, Kenworth Sales Co., and others expressed their support of the annexation, several citing their intent to expand into Post Falls, with jobs in tow. SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley-based Crown West Realty LLC has purchased nearly 40 acres of vacant industrial land in Spokane Valley where the company plans to develop a 600,000-square-foot, multibuilding industrial park. The planned industrial park is located just east of the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, which boasts over 4.5 million square feet of space. Learn more.
MOSCOW, Idaho — Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) broke ground on the new 140,000 square foot printed circuit board facility in Moscow. "We're tickled pink," Dr. Ed Schweitzer III, Owner and Operator of SEL said. "We're creating career opportunities for folks where they can go to school, come to work here, and still stay at home." With facilities already in Pullman and Lewiston, SEL will say that Moscow is already part of the family. The new plant will be used specifically to fabricate circuit boards used in SEL products. SPOKANE, Wash. —Whitworth University completed a two-year intensive study process to assess gaps in health science services locally and regionally. As a result, the university is rolling out doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) and doctorate in occupational therapy (OPT) programs. The university is also currently constructing a new $30M Health Science Building to accommodate the expanding Health Science program. LEWISTON, Idaho — Lewiston’s long wait for more air service ended with an announcement that United will begin nonstop Denver flights starting in Fall 2021. Beginning Oct. 5, Lewiston will have a daily Denver departure at 6:15 a.m. and an arrival at 8:30 p.m. on 50-passenger CRJ200 Bombardier aircraft operated by SkyWest. Tickets are available now on United.com.
