Here we are in September and in talking with people I have found there seems to be 2 main "labels" that people place on this time of year:

1. Fall is a slow march to the impending doom of winter. Oh, summer - please don't leave!

2. Fall is my favorite time of year - bring on the sweaters, football, and everything pumpkin!

While I'm sort of excited to have broader options in my daily wardrobe (anyone else excited about adding scarves back into your accessories!?), I am definitely in the "summer - please don't leave" camp. As fall rolls around once again, I find myself not present... I look to the past fondly (summer) and future anxiously (winter) but in doing so I miss out on what is (fall).

When I came across the Jon Kabat-Zinn quote included above earlier this week, the line, "with the intention to embody as best we can an orientation of calmness, mindfulness, and equanimity right here and right now," it reminded me to shift my perspective a bit. Having an intention to embody AS BEST I CAN a fuller awareness in each and every moment of these upcoming cooler and darker days.
