Most of the 2016 fiduciary obligation rule on brokers who handle retirement accounts takes effect, despite the Trump administration's efforts to delay implementation. The rule was adopted by the Department of Labor under President Barack Obama to eliminate financial advice that charged consumers high fees and commissions.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Vote on the Financial Choice Act, a major effort to reshape the Dodd-Frank Act, according to a person familiar with the matter not authorized to speak publicly.  Rules committee previously announced  plans to consider legislation week of June 6.  The bill would permit banks to hold additional capital in exchange for more relaxed regulatory burdens,  restructure the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, repeal the Volcker Rule and Department of Labor's fiduciary rule, impose more oversight on the Federal Reserve, and tweak securities laws to lower burdens on small startups' capital-raising. The  bill has strong support from House Republicans, especially after language was removed that would have repealed fee caps on debit-card transactions.
