Founded in 1954, CERN is the world’s largest laboratory for particle physics. Today, it brings together a community of some 17,000 people from across the world, focused on exploring the Universe’s most fundamental questions. In the pursuit of answers to these questions, the laboratory develops cutting-edge technologies, many of which have a significant impact through their application in wider society. It is an unparalleled training ground for a new generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians. Both Denmark and Switzerland are among the founding members of the Organization.
Our visit to CERN offers a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the different dimensions of this world-renowned scientific infrastructure. We will first be taken some 100 m underground to an experimental cavern, and then be introduced to the frontier magnet technology development that is at the heart of CERN’s flagship particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider. The site visit will be followed by a deep dive into CERN’s industrial partnerships, procurement, knowledge transfer and innovation, with the opportunity to exchange with experts on how CERN engages with business and concludes with the traditional networking cocktail.
